Chip, I greatly appreciate your advice and I agree 100% that crate training should be the first step. We tried everything one could think of to get her to relax in the crate. We have the belief that the whole puppymill problem probably made crates traumatic.
We had to beg a trainer to come out to our home (4 different trainers said there was nothing they could do) he came out, observed us, how we operate and to see what she did/didn't know. (We've had this dog almost 2 years) unfortunately he felt (as did the trainers who wouldn't come) that we had done everything one could do to fix this issue with her.
Unfortunately it's crystal clear that there is potential for a chemical imbalance or doggy PTSD. She is the toughest dog we've ever had/dealt with.
