A nice non-healthy meal every now & again is good for you. Enjoy your visit & supper.

Mandy, I'm so happy to hear your aunt is doing so well and enjoying her new home, and of course that she gets to visit her fur-baby too! That must be the hardest part.

My mom and I had a great dinner date with my aunt last night. She looks so good! She has to be in a wheel chair for her own safety unless a nurse is present, but if she wasn't in a wheel chair you'd never know something was wrong with her. She doesn't have a lot of strength yet which is discouraging her, but we just keep reassuring her that it's just going to take time. The therapy she's going through shoulds pretty neat. One of the things they have her doing is putting a jigsaw puzzle together in a standing position with her wheelchair right behind her just in case she falls. The object is to see how long she can stand before the pain gets to be too much for her. She's only gotten to 3 minutes so far which made her feel bad, but again we reassured her it's going to take time.

She should've gotten to see her boy Max today. Although she hasn't posted an update yet on Facebook. I'm sure she shed some tears seeing her baby again.

She doesn't know yet, but we are planning on bringing Abby over there tomorrow. We can bring my aunt outside as long as she's in a wheelchair. She hasn't met Abby yet, but has seen tons of pics. We figured it would be good for my aunt to get out and good for Abby to meet someone new and to be exposed to a wheelchair and the other sights out there. Looking forward to it!

Boy time flies! I didn't realize how much time had gone by since my last update. So here's the latest.

My aunt did extremely well in the nursing home getting her much needed rehab. She is now able to stand on her own without the use of a walker or any other support for close to an hour. She's able to do stairs and can move around really well. They were very pleased with her progress. As a result, they released her last Friday. She's now at home where she's continuing her rehab per the instructions they gave her. She has a visiting nurse who stops by twice daily to check in on here. She's so happy to finally be home! She lives on the lower level of their house, but her roomate told her she's to stay upstairs for now to make sure she doesn't hurt herself going up and down the stairs. I think my aunt's fine with that considering she's home!

There's still no appointment set up for her radiation. She's waiting to see her doctor again to get that part rolling. Her appt was sched for this coming Wed, but she found out late Friday she has to reschedule. So we're still waiting.

Overall, we're all thrilled with her progress and the fact that she'll be home for Christmas. It'll be a Christmas that she'll never forget that's for sure.

My aunt went on Wednesday to get some more body scans done to check for cancer. She still has cancer on her spine which we all knew she would. It is still spreading, but it's not as quickly spreading as it was which is good. They have to wait until her spine is healed enough to go through radiation before they can start. I have no idea how long that will be, but hopefully soon! My aunt expected all of this news so she was prepared for it. She's anxious to get started on radiation so hopefully this can all be put behind her. On a good note, she got her treatments moved to a local clinic so instead of having to go stay with her daughter she'll be able to go straight home. She's super excited about that! Can't say that I blame her. She also got the clearance to start driving again. So she'll be starting out with short trips to a store and back and will gradually work her way up. So all in all, she's doing great. We're just waiting for the next step to start now.

On a different note, I don't think I mentioned this before. One of my co-workers lost her husband to COPD back in July of this year. About a month later she found out she had stomach cancer. She's been in the hospital ever since. She went through a few treatments of chemo, but it's not helping. She can't keep food down and even when she tries taking her medication it comes right back up within an hour. We just found a few minutes ago that they decided to move her to a hospice care center where she'll be spending her final days. They don't think that she's going to make it through the month. Her sister has been keeping us up to date and we've gone to see her a few times while she was at the hospital. Her sister told us that she's at peace with everything and is in good spirits. She's an older lady at 73 years old and she has no children or pets so when she lost her husband she really lost everything important to her. She could've retired long ago, but stayed working here as a receptionist just to get her out of the house. She enjoyed chatting it up with us and is a really sweet lady. I hope her last days are comfortable and her passing is peaceful.

Sorry to hear that Mandy. I know the helpless feeling, I have been through this journey with too many family members...
All you can do is pray, cherish the good times and have faith that everything will be fine.

Lots of wiggle butt vibes from Stanley to your aunt and your family
