I was out with the local Siberian Husky Rescue today.... pretty cool watching these guys work as a team.

THAT IS SO COOL! I would love to do that someday. I know they have some teams here in colorado. I'm moving it up my list after seeing these pics

Wait until you hear them howl when they realize they are about to mush. When the lead dog gets hooked up to the sled harness, the whole packs howls. When the musher commands "Hike!"... dead silence, except paws pounding the snow. It's so cool!

So, I learned more sled dog commands today. The one I mentioned above is "Hike!", which is GO. Here are some others....

"Gee!" - go right
"Haw!" - go left
"Easy! - Slow down
Kiss smooches - Speed up
"Whoa!" - Stop

I had an experience like that, except I was the "lead dog" of a 6 man fire team pulling 400lbs of gear on a sled in 50 below zero weather! It kicked my a$$! Made me RESPECT any dog that did that for a living!!

That is awesome. I think Husky's are adorable pups but living in TX I couldn't own one. I know they do better with colder weather & it gets to hot down here for them.
