I switched her to a daycare that crates all the dogs for nap time from 12-1pm and it has made a world of difference for Aspen. I get her home now and she's calm and tired and content. I think she was really, really over tired at the old daycare and it brought out the worst in her.
Oh that's interesting. Always thought they calm down when tired out. Good thing to note.

Hahaha they really are smart (but in my girl's case NOT obedient ). Pretty soon you may find yourself in the middle of a conversation with KO.

Actually, I do talk to him.... he just never says a word back though. But he does look at me and reacts with different facial expressions, when I say certain things.

Spoke with the Alex Brooks Canine Training Center today. We have an appointment for August 2nd for an evaluation. Based on my description of the issue, they feel it is K.O. asserting his dominance that is at the root cause of the issues. I was told that in cases like these, they usually board the dog there and train them 6 days a week, for 2 - 3 weeks, to ingrain the new behavior they want.

We'll see how much this costs.

Oh I bet it's gonna be a pretty mortgage payment or two, heck if 3 weeks maybe even 3! Sometimes, places like that offer financing or payment plans. Let's hope for the best diagnosis for you and your baby! Best of Luck! ~Misty~

I don't think I trust anyplace that wants my dog to stay and doesn't train the owner to handle the problem with the dog - just my two cents

Oh! they're big on training the owner. Apparently in certain hard cases, they have to re-groove the dog separately first.

I remember 18 months ago, Mary Mazzeri telling me that she has seen dogs like K.O., that she called super Alphas, never get fully corrected. Some of these guys will always have a dominant nature.

So, I'm just wondering if this is the way it's going to be and we just have to deal with it and spending money on it is a waste of time.

Not really a fan of doggy day care myself. Did the problems start before or after he went to doggy day care?

He sounds like a Dominate male dog, that's not a good dog park or doggy day care candidate.

Food for thought:
Three Dogs Who Shouldn’t Be at the Dog Park or Daycare | Robin Bennett

The food think was a warning, don't reach in on him in the future! Teach AUS/OUT or "Drop it" rock solid! Or "GO" make "him" leave the object! Don't pick a battle when you don't have to!

I like doggy daycares, I was going to put wyatt in one 1-2 days a week when he was crated just so he could release some extra energy.

Personally I would not worry about the food thing, had he done it since that first time? Maybe pick up his bowl and hold it for a few seconds then put it down.

We too have to spell words bc they know what they are and have actually had to say the word backwards or spell it backwards so penny can't figure out what we are saying.

I'd be curious to see how much the training will cost.

If you try the rescue remedy let me know how it works out, I've been wanting to try it but afraid it might not work.

Keep us updated on his behavior!
