Default i'm losing my mind! Whine

My over one yr old boxer is becoming increasingly more and more annoying with whining. its not like he has to go to the bathroom or is hungry. he's constantly whining, and yawning VERY loudly on purpose!

I will look at him sometimes with a "come on that was ridiculously loud" face and he knows it! Is this anxiety whining? i get up early and hang out with him before work, and he is crated during the day when no ones around (he loves his crate!). and he has a 6 yr old lab to act a fool with when they are both out playin around...

do you think he's still not gettin the exercise exertion he needs? we play full sprinting fetch and go on walks...is that enough?

please save my sanity!

Are you giving him any attention, making comments to him, when he does this? As hard as it seems, you need to totally ignore the whining, like you would a child's whining. Any attention, even negative attention, lets him know that it works. Maybe try a time out in another room for a few minutes (without saying anything to him while taking him there) will get your point across. Consistency will be the key, as always. I know-easier said than done!

Boxers also need their people big time, so make sure that the time you do spend with him gives him the physical/mental attention he needs: body rubs (wherever he likes it), talking to him, etc., not just time running around the yard with your other dog. The walks are good - how long do you walk him? Either my husband or me, or both, walk our dogs about 2 1/2 - 3 miles a day to wear them out, besides the time they spend in the yard going potty/playing.

SuzyQ is pretty vocal but she doesn't whine a great deal. But we did have a shepherd who whined all the time and drove us nuts. I think sometimes they just like the sound of their own voice - that is probably crazy, but when there is no reason to whine and they still do it who knows?

Tango went through a whinning stage at about that age. Whined about EVERYTHING!! Even now he's still very vocal. I especially love when he rolls around on his back and sounds like an ewok!

OMG porkchop, I'm going through the same thing to!! It drives me crazy...My other dogs have NEVER whined like this, never. She is a morning whiner. Britney is 10 months old, and the minute the sun rises, the whining begins. I get up, let her out to do her business, let her back in, and go back to bed...because I'm tired and want to sleep more. She whines and whines nonstop until you actually get up. I don't need to set the alarm clock, because I'm blessed with an automatic alarm clock with my dog..

My boxer whines a lot. We'll be in the middle of a 3 mile hike through the most awesome remote woods ever, and he'll just start whining. Theres no pleasing this boy. Hes very attached to me, if I leave the room he'll whine sometimes. If Trouble steals his toy, he'll come running to me to whine. To be honest I probably gave into his whining when he was a puppy and he learned it works. I pretty much ignore it now but maybe its too late. I agree with the above advice, ignore it....don't acknowledge it....and definitely don't reward it!

It is an attitude sometimes that will really drive you nuts. But it maybe a form of communication too. It means they want or feel something. Here, go through this site. I think they can help you understand your dogs whining. http://www.dogproblemsolutions.com/how_ ... hining.php
