My boy rarely ever barks. The first time I head him bark, it surprised me and him!! LOL As he got older, he would bark everyonce in a while when he would get really into playing with something but that's about it. He's only ever barked at one person and that was when a bloody man ended up in my backyard after a break in/shooting happened a few doors down form my place (the dude that was in my yard was the shooter but it all happened in self defense. He had come to my place looking for my husband to help him get help. LONG story!). A little later that same day Rocko growled at a cop I was talking to through the window. The bark and the growl were more like a frightened puppy bark and growl.
Mostly he Chewbacca talks me or he whines. I'll take that over a barker anyday!! Though it would be nice if he would atleast do something other than stand there and wiggle head to toe when someone knocks on the door!!!

Nikki is 9.5 months and she did a woof once it was the cutest little sound. I love that she doesn't bark! I've had 4 barkers and they fed of each other. Now I have one barker but it doesn't last as long as it used to.
Nikki used to make cute grunting noises when she tried to get my cocker to play but I haven't heard them since I had to put my cocker down :-( |

I would not worry as ..(at least based on my experience with the Boxers I have had before, and with the 6 ones I now own ),..I don't believe it's a problem because most of the Boxers if they are not over stimulated to bark they wont do it. For example mines will bark and will be growling too only when they get to see someone or something they dont recognize ;...but will also do it when playing with other dogs.
Also, the Boxer will bark when for some reason is bored and wants to get your attention,....Of the 6 Boxers I have, "Banjo" (the Dude on the photo), likes to be with me all the time ,more than the other dogs,... and if I don't allow him to do it he will then proceed to bark a lot !..(yup! is the way he uses to "protest"!!) ----"Banjo"----...woof!

Pheona only barks when someone rings the doorbell or knocks or someone is to close to our fence in the backyard. She'll also bark when playing with either hubby or Murphy. Murphy on the other hand only barks when she's playing with Pheona or hubby. She hasn't barked when anyone's at the door yet.

My Ellie is 4months. and likes to bark when she's playing. Usually it's at our 10 year old lab mix who's had enough of playing time with her little sister, and now wants to rest. Ellie will run back and forth barking at her, or she will grab a bone and bark at it, or run around in circles in the living room barking like some crazy puppy.

Jaxon only breaths heavy. Even when him and Belah are playing. I don't think I have EVER heard him bark. Belah on the other hand barks at her shadow. Literally. She barks at everything.....for attention, water, food, people, Jaxon, her shadow, her bones, and her farts. I think she just likes to be vocal. She has different tones to her bark. So each one means something different.
