Hello! I have a wonderful 10 month old neutered boxer who has been well socialized and very gentle to other dogs. One week ago at day care he began wrapping his legs around a specific squeeky little dog and made some scary noises (no actual mouth contact). I had never seen this at home with my pug, and hadn't experienced it in dog parks either. Well, it happened Sunday at the dog park with me. Again, a squeeky little weiner dog came up to him and shrieked, he locked his arms around him and started 'yelling' at him - again, no contact with mouth. Luckily he has a pretty solid recall, and when I called his name, he attended to me. HE spent the rest of the time on leash, with 'gentle', 'leave it' and 'easy ' commands, and then seemed pretty ok. Bad news, at day care today he was apparently HORRIBLE! A little yappy puggle got him all discombobulated and he had to be tied to tie outs, in time out, on leash etc.
How do I work through this??? I am thinking of taking him to Petco or Pet smart to see little dogs, get a citronella or shock collar? I don't know and it is so new!! THanks |

My girl has the same problem and will try to put a head lock around dogs that annoy her. She will also try to sit on them to shut them up and it would get ugly. of course, it always looks like my Boxer's fault because she's the bigger muscular dog.
We are in an obedience program and she is a total angel there, even with yappy dogs. But if we are walking and a yappy dog passes us, she wants to eat it!!
