So long story short, two years ago my neighbor passed away, his kids finally put the house on the market and sold it and around christmas time our new neighbors started working on the house and this weekend they finally moved in. Well, they have an older bloodhound looking dog. We have a chainlink fence around our yard but a wooden fence seperating my yard from the neighbors yard. Right now they have their dog on a lead line b/c there's a spot where their fence isn't closed all the way. Anyways...our yippy dog Penny will go out and bark, which then makes Wyatt go out and bark. He will stand on the wodden fence to look over and just bark and bark and bark. The neighbors said the barking doesn't bother them (theirs barks as well). Any suggestions on how to get this to stop? Should I see if they are willing to let the two dogs meet (on the sidewalk even, if not in one of our yards). Have any of you ever tried any bark control device? I looked up on Petco's website and they have the vibrating collars, and then other devices that send out ultrasonic noises/vibes (whatever). We have yelled at him, told him to STOP, NO BARK, but he doesn't even notice us. They have these cute little bird house looking devices that send out an ultrasonic sound when they bark. I just hate to spend 50-100$ and realize this stuff is crap and doesn't work. I rather have something that will stop all 3 dogs from barking, and the rotty 3 houses down as well! Any suggestions please????

Below is what I posted about mine early in 2012. One is still in the tree and one is in the garage.
---------------------------------------------------------------------- I got a couple of those that look like bird houses. I hung them in a tree hoping to keep Tucker from just standing and barking at the neighbor. The reviews said that most dogs just get used to the ultrasonic sound after a couple of weeks and our experience was the same. It worked great for 2 weeks. It might work better if it was around his neck but the range on the bird house is around 15 feet so he just backed up and barked. The bird house has led-s so you can see when the barking activates the unit. After 2-3 weeks I replaced the batteries and could see the led flashing with Tucker standing almost under the bird house. This is the one I ordered. There are over 700 reviews that range from nothing to best thing ever. |

I have never used one. We worked with Pheona with the command "quiet" when she'd bark. When she'd get quiet we'd give her a treat. We are in the process (well my hubby best still be working, I had to fly home as my grandfather passed), of working with Murphy on this.

I have found with Sally yelling at her doesn't help because she thinks you are barking with her and justifying her barking. As to stopping it I don't know Sally only really barks from the front door and that is only open of an evening when we are home. So when something is annoying her I get her to lay down, and the shut the door.

I had bought one of those $10 "Bark Off" things.
Maggie just backs up and barks more because it annoys her, Mongo gets scared and runs and hides. ![]() Since I bought it because of Maggie's barking and she isn't phased by it and it scares Mongo, I don't use it. Guess it works on some and not others. |

Wyatts_Momma, I found the one in the garage and put in a new battery, took it to the closet, turned it on and barked at it......ya I did. Didn't really want to try it on Tucker.
The led still flashes so I can only assume it works. If you want to try this one, PM me an address and I will mail it tomorrow. It's not doing us any good. |
