Question I think she's Pregnant!!!!

OK... My Bella has come out of heat and her nipples are getting big on me. All I can think is uh oh. Hmmm, should I have let the kids handle the dogs while my wife and I were @ work? Either way I think it had to have happened sometime around Thanksgiving. I have a strange feeling that theres a few buns in the oven. Please share any other signs I should be looking for. May be I'm about to be a daddy.

Thanks in advance.

Is there a male on site that had access to your female? I hope she isn't pregnant since this obviously wasn't a planned breeding. I assume neither dog has been health tested for specific genetic issues associated with the boxer breed? I hope you will consider spay/neuter of your dogs since this incident points to an inability to keep your dogs from breeding. And hopefully if she is pregnant, you will carefully screen to find all the puppies appropriate homes and agree to take back any puppies if the new homes can't keep them for any reason for their entire lives and please insist on spay/neuter contracts. Rescues all across the country are full to the brim right now and many of the dogs in need are from 'accidental breedings' and there seems to be no end in sight. Good luck.

Take her to the vet to find out for sure. My cocker went through her first heat and I knew 120% that she had not had contact with any males, but yet she showed all the signs of being pregnant (nesting, enlarged nipples, even producing milk). My vet confirmed that she was experiencing a false pregnancy. Hopefully this is what your girl is experiencing, although it is not pleasant for her, at least you won't have a bunch of pups to contend with. Good Luck!

We went through the same thing with Lacey. My parents kept saying, are you sure she not pregnant? No mom.........she's not, there is no way.

I agree,my 1st female had false pregnancies all the time.

Get her spayed when you sure she is not (hopefully).

Those false pregnancies coupled with lactating can lead to mammary cancer in certain dogs...you dont want that.

I would like to add that Bella has a date of this Friday to be spayed, second the only male around is my other boxer Charlie, "He's he bomb". I chose to have her spayed because I don't want to breed her even though she's a wonderful boxer.

I am a responsible boxer owner, and Charlie is a Dunnsford Boxer with a gang of Champions in his bloodline, I didn't plan for puppies and I wouldn't want the two of them to produce off-springs there is just too much work involved.

Considering your boys lineage you could be in a heap of trouble if she is. Unless you have breeding rights. In any case I'd find out asap and if she is let both your breeders know.

Is his registration limited, or full? Because on Dunnfords website, it says they place most of their Boxers on limited, and must be spayed/neutered by 6months per the contract.....
