We came home from a trip and this little guy was in our driveway. He was starving and pitiful. I posted pics online but no one claimed him so we decided to give him a better life! It's been a little hard to adjust, we haven't had a pet in a long time, but my kids and I LOVE him! A vet visit told his age of 8 months and proved nothing wrong that some food and love couldn't fix :) We are working on potty training and animal aggression. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

A few months ago I left the vet super sad. Troy went in for his normal yearly visit. He's 1 year 6 months old and the most beautiful baby ever. Super chill and looks at you with those sad Boxer eyes that we are all used to. When the vet mentioned his mild murmur, I quickly asked questions but she seemed very relaxed about it and made it seem like it's a very normal thing with Boxers. I quickly did research and we all know how that goes in Google land. If you Google an itch that may very well be a mosquito bite, you may automatically have cancer, per Google. So, I kind of stayed away from the websites and searches so I wouldn't drive myself insane.

Whenever Troy plays with his buddy Donna, a female Boxer that is about 3 months younger than he is, he's usually the calmer of the two and ends up being split up by me because he quickly starts this really heavy dry cough. The cough only happens when he's super active and for a few minutes until he relaxes. Again, I haven't put much thought into this, seeing as though I live in a small apartment and Troy's day is 95% spent laying down watching Disney Channel. So, obviously he isn't used to jumping and sprinting around a back yard.

Yesterday I went with Donnas owner to take her to the vet and roughly mentioned Troys heart murmur to that vet and she said I should get an Xray done...

I guess my question/concern is... Am I being the hypochondriac I've always been or should I really look into this?

Hello everyone, i'm a longtime lurker that finally decided to officially join the site. I'm a first time boxer owner, I adopted my dog Bailey from a shelter (KCPP - Kansas City Pet Project). Bailey is a little over 1 year old. She was real skinny and sick but she's doing very well now. When I first got her she was very friendly and I was told that she got along great with cats and other dogs. The first day i adopted her i took her to petsmart to be bathed and groomed and there were other dogs there and she was very friendly, she was licking the other dogs and wanting to play.
I have two cats as well and for the most part she ignores them but sometimes she chases after the kitten. She stops though when i tell her 'No'.

Anyway I have some concerns which is why i joined the forum. Even though Bailey gets along with cats and dogs sometimes she tries to chase after stray cats when i take her out for walks. She also sometimes growls and barks at people and other dogs. There have been a few people that have been brave enough to actually come up to her and when they do Bailey stops barking and she becomes a wiggle butt and she jumps on them, loving the attention.

This morning I was taking her out (i live in an apartment on the 3rd floor) and a lady was walking through under the steps where i was coming down with my dog. This lady had two dogs with her. Her larger dog was on a leash but her little dog wasn't on a leash. Well Bailey freaked out and started pulling at the leash and barking and whining trying to get to these other dogs.
I wasn't sure if she was going to try to attack them or if she just wanted to play. Needless to say i'm a little confused about her behavior.
So i'm wondering if there's anything i'm doing wrong or something i can do to try and correct this behavior.

Hope to learn some things while i'm here!

Thanks for reading. :)

Lots of info in these forums, I've been reading but have so much to go. Its our first Boxer, but we had friends that had Boxer and we always liked them.
We did have two Olde English Bulldogges that are now at Rainbow Bridge, one last year and the other this year. So this is our first puppy in 14 years, I had forgotten how much work they are :cry2:

This is T-Bone, my son named him after his own nickname in soccer. T-Bone just turned 12 weeks, and I think he is on the small side, from what I have been reading in here.

I got him at seven weeks old, and he was seven pounds.
Now at 12 weeks, he's almost at 15 pounds, so he is growing, but I think too slow? His mom was 60 and dad was 70.

He was on TOTW puppy, but that wasn't working so well for him. He is now on Horizon Legacy puppy and seems OK, but its only been about a week.

The Horizon website has a food calculator and it says 1.25 cups per day. their bag says 1.3 for his age and weight.

I have been giving 1.5-2 per day because he always seem hungry. And now that he is not putting on weight like he should, maybe add more?

I just don't want to add too much, or maybe try a different food that may have him gain more?

Here are some pics, I can see ribs, but he is muscular when playing and has lots of energy, good appetite...too good really.

So, is he too small for his age, maybe different food?
