I lost my best friend Ootis today to cancer at the all to young age of 7 1/2. My heart is broken. I know I will never be able to replace him because he was one of a kind. But knowing how great Boxers are I am sure that I can get another buddy that will be just as loved.

Does anyone know of any litters that are available or will be available soon in the Midwest? I have no issue with driving many miles for my new best friend. Because my other Boxer Chuie is a Fawn and in honor of Ootis who was a brindle I would like to get another male brindle. I don't need a show dog, I want a friend. Breeding history and the health of the bloodline are very important to me though. This is something that I did not research enough before getting my first Boxer Ootis. My second, Chuie I did do the research on and he is bulletproof. I know that there are caring breeders out there offering this high quality Boxer. I just need to find some.

Can someone point me in the right direction. I am looking to give a Boxer a wonderful life. I have a large fenced in yard to play in as well as quite a bit of forrest behind me for them to play in (supervised of course). I work out of my house so my dogs are almost never left alone. My wife and I miss our Ootis very much, we would like to be able to give that same amount of love to another Boxer that needs a wonderful home.

Your best bet is to go on the American Boxer Club web site and find a local boxer club and/or go to a local dog show where they are showing boxers. Not that you want a show dog, but usually show breeders are more reputable than a person simply putting out a classified ad. Also, I think the ABC web site also has a breeder listing page and the AKC site might have one too. But a local boxer club is your best bet to get a few recommendations.

we got one of our pups at 6 weeks old and our other one at 9 months old...the 9 month old was a rescueof sorts...but...he is more attached to us and wants to be with us more than our pup we got at 6 weeks...both love to be on the couch with us..and both are a little too human like for their own good...good luck finding a new pup...i haven't gone the rescue route because I believe that the animals there cost way too much moneyy to inherit another person's "problem"...who knows what happenned to the dog before it comes home with you...the only reason we took the 9 month old was because he was free to good home..and he has had some behavior issues we are working on...rescue is good...but for me...from now on...i don't want a pup over 8 weeks...

First of all very sorry for your loss. *I always feel you can best honor the previous pet by getting another one a wonderful home.

Pups need to be with their siblings until they are atleast 8 weeks old for the socialization and actually 10 -12 weeks would be better but usually breeders won't keep them any longer than 8 weeks or slightly longer.

If you want a pup research the breeders fully. *Make sure they health test fully and are available to you for questions, concerns etc. *Hearts, hips and thyroid should be run on the breeding stock used. *Those are our main problems. *If you go rescue you can sometimes get puppies but you can also get a lovely adult thru the tedious puppy stage. *Good luck on whatever you choose.

Please take the time to search out a responsible breeder before making any rash decisions. *When our Jax died, we wanted to fill the void right away but I resisted looking at BYB ads in the newspaper classifieds as hard as I could. *You don't want to rush out and get another pup from a BYB that will turn out to have health problems as well.
