Default eating schedule and pooping

We feed Jax 3 times a day. I like it, because I feel that he is not "starving" by dinner time, as compared to if we fed him once in morning, then in evening. BUT, do you guys/gals think his poop "schedule" would be better if he went to two meals a day? Can a few of you list your dog's eating and potty schedules? Here is Jax's:

Times are close estimates:

6am: pees, poops, then eats breakfast. (Son does this for him before he goes to school)

Around 8:30am: pees and poops. (when wife and other son wake up. Jax is crated till this time)

Around 12pm: eats lunch.

1pm: goes pee

Around 3pm: goes poop.

If he wines, we take him out again before dinner, but he does not drink that much besides meals. I am sure this will change when it gets warmer outside again.

6pm: eats dinner.

7pm: pees

9:30pm: goes poop. If we stay up late, and Jax is just sleeping on the couch, I will let him go as late as midnight, but I wake him up to get him to go poop, then to his crate.

Sooo, sorry for so long, he tends to be ready to pee like clockwork about one hour after he drinks a decent amount. He poops a few hours after he eats a meal, and one early morning. Do you think he would cut down his pooping, if he only ate twice a day? That would cut out his 3pm poop, lol.

I was gonna say that seems like a lot of pooping
7 AM: Ollie gets a 40 min walk (pees and poops)
8 AM: Breakfast
12/1 PM: I let him out - usually just pees
6 PM: 30-40 min walk (pee and poop)
7PM: Dinner
11 PM: Out for last pee

Sometimes he will poop 3x in a day - I'd say about once a week he does that. Other than that it is just usually on the walks.
It's even rare that he 'asks' to go out more than 4x a day to do his business, which I have a feeling is probably rare ???

tg someone asked the same question I was going to ask. Tucker poops A LOT for his age.

It has to do with the food right? (mainly) Im wanting to switch again, but Im in a tailspin, Im not sure which to switch to

Well, since jax eats an extra meal, he would, I guess, poop one more also? I don't think he has ever "asked" to go out and poop, just pee. maybe it is just us, "making" him poop. I just never want to take a chance of having an accident in the house, so we make sure he goes before he goes to bed. Maybe after a few more people post schedules, I may try to modify mine. It's more like we are potty trained and not him, lol. He just goes when we take him out.

As far as food goes, he is on TOTW, and since he poops after each meal and once in morning, I don't think he is overly pooping, but wonder if he could "combine the after breakfast, and after lunch poops together, LOL, or go to two a day feedings. But people do suggest that less quality foods will cause more waste.

Kiah and Keegan, out at 6:00am poop and pee, back in for breakfast; out again at 7:00 usually just pee sometimes Keegan will poop again quick walk if it not too cold. 4:00 out again both pee sometimes poop sometimes not back in again to eat, around 6:00 they will pee again and/or poop if they did not earlier then we go for a walk or in the basement to play fetch if it too cold out. Last time out between 9:00 or 10:00 to pee. Weekends, schedule different depends on if we go to the dog park or not. The most they ever poop is 4 times a day but it is usually 2 to 3 times a day. When I had Kiah on Canidae, she pooped 8 to 10 times a day so to me it definitely has to do with the food. Both of mine are over 2 years old now and they have free roam of part of the house and no accidents unless there is a thunderstorm, then Keegan may have an accident due to his fear.

You could feed a dog once a day and he could still eliminate 2 or 3 times. Once you get past the puppy phase where they need to eliminate immediately after eating, I don't think timing has to do with it as much as total caloric intake and absorption of the intake (ie quality of ingredients).

Yeah, I would think that the extra meal would cause an extra poop ...
Ollie is on TOTW, too, so I think that helps the amount. I didn't look to see what age Jax was at first, and I am thinking maybe 'cuz he is on the younger side, that he will poop more ??? I can't remember Ollie's poop schedule that far back LOL. Not sure of the age that you should go to 2 meals a day, either. When I got Ollie at age 1, I had him on 3 meals a day probably for another 6 months or so b4 I switched him to 2x a day... maybe someone else knows the time to switch?
I guess you could gradually make his AM/PM meals a little larger and his lunch meal smaller to see how Jax takes to it - and then maybe you could get down to just 2x a day.

Laila eats 2 meals a day, and her poop/pee schedule looks similar to Jax's. I think it's because they are both so young. Laila has 5 poops a day...I know because the next morning that's how many I have to scoop! It's pretty consistent. I'm looking forward to the day when there are fewer potty breaks.

When Bice was younger he would be fed 3 times a day to control his washroom more. Now he is free fed and gets 3 1/2 - 4 cups a down starting around 8am, and sometimes there is a bit left at the end of the night. He is just over 1 year. He normally poops 3 times a day. When he first wakes up, around 1pm then later on between 9-11pm depending on his bed time. Play time is almost every other hour of the day when he isn't sleeping! lol He pees 4 -5 times a day, from all the water he drinks from playing and walking. He never sits still!
