My two puppies are just a little over 20 lbs and there 4 months old, is that abnormal? we went to the vet for boosters and they said they were a little under weight, i just thought they would be bigger by now.
They are feed 3 times a day and eat like pigs. should i give them more food? |

I am so glad I'm not the only one! Dillon is 21.5 lbs at 16 weeks. He eats 3 cups of Blue Buffalo a day. I have tried increasing his food because he always seems like he's still hungry after he eats, but every time I give him more he gets the runs.

I suggest not increasing the amount of food because he is still hungry. Dogs should not really feel full after they have eaten. I know it is very tempting to give your dog more when they give you that look. Once you start that it may never end. The most important thing about weight and pups and young dogs is that their bones are not yet fully developed; they are still growing so we don’t want them being overweight that might cause problems with their bones later. You should be able to see their ribs, not skinny like but slender.
Do you have any pics? |

You can not compare your puppies weight to other puppies weight because your puppy may be smaller boned smaller in size all the way around so would not be the same weight as another 20 week old puppy. The weight is really low but our first boxer was super tiny she was the runt and small even for that. My concern would be that the vet said she was under weight not small. You may want to discuss with your vet supplements or a higher quality food because like some of the other posts said you do not want to just stuff the puppy you want the puppy to get quality fat. As a puppy this is very important. Really do your research and make sure you are feeding a quality diet I have people say all the time I feed a really good food I feed X brand and that is a medium level ok food but a much better food would do the dog a lot better.
