I use blue buffalo with both our boxers. I used Eukanuba about 17+ years ago (before some these other dry foods became available) and we switched our boxer then to the Eukanuba fish and potato type. Bit expensive - even back then - but Tyson/ red male boxer was worth extra penny!

I'm not very familiar with the totw food, although when I was looking at it, thinking of considering it, some of their brands contain canola oil, which dogs can be allergic too. Plus, I would rather have flax seed or fish oil used than a cheap fat like canola oil, so I decided against the totw all together. It is popular on this site, I just didn't have a good feeling about it for some reason.I feed blue buffalo grain free- the freedom line. Not every food works w every dog, even the good stuff. But I would not recommend the eukanuba brand AT ALL- cheap food full of fillers. I would also rec. adding in coconut oil to their diet. Start off slow, cause it kind of detoxes them, and can cause loose stools if given too much too soon, but can be given up to 1 tsp per 10 lbs- it can really help w their skin and shininess

My girls are both on Blue Buffalo. They both get fish oil on their food once a day. Murphy is still having some dry skin issues, not sure if it's weather changes or what. Haven't noticed anything else leading me to believe allergy. She goes back to the vet next week so I'll talk with them to see what they think.

Oh on the coconut oil - make sure if you give it , you give the virgin or extra virgin, unrefined , cold pressed organic. Also - to help w the itchy / licky feet is baking soda water/ baking soda baths. Licking their feet is common w food allergies but baking soda and water will relieve them a bit. Just pat dry- don't rinse off

Which TOTW flavor are you feeding? Dempsey only does well on the Pacific Stream one. The Wetlands and Prairie gave him diahrrea. I don't think he can handle the high protein in them. You may want to try a different variety - he may be allergic to the protein in the one you're feeding.
Also, how fast did you switch? A cold turkey switch can really do a number on a boxer's tummy. You should switch slowly - over about 2 weeks, or even longer. I also give Dempsey a fish oil capsule daily, and also organic coconut oil (he's only getting 1/2 tsp. twice a day so far; you have to start slow with this stuff to avoid digestive upset.). Another kibble you could try that many have had success on, is Earthborn grainfree. That is a food that I'm going to rotate with TOTW. I'm going to try the Meadow Feast (lamb based). Right now I'm about at 1/2 and 1/2, while switching very slowly; so far so good. |

I found with Kippah kibbles high in protein did sit well with her. I didnt try Taste of The wild with her because of the recalls still not comfortable with them yet.
