Hi guys,
Jersey is our new 12wk old girl! Has anyone heard about this food or tried it? The ingredients look relatively good, it certainly is better than a LOT of other foods while still maintaining a reasonable price. We have had her on it for about 2 weeks now and she seems to be doing good. I like that it has Omega3s because I read its great to keep boxers from shedding too much and keeps their coat healthy and shiny. But as I do more research, I see a lot of people on grain-free food. I've looked at the website with all the 5-star foods, but wondering what are some of YOUR favorites for puppies based on obviously ingredients, quality, and (not so important) price. Cheers! |

I havent fed puppy food in a very long time so I really cant help with my own experience. But I would say Acana and Orijen both have very good food.
Here is a list of 5 star puppy foods Best 5-Star Dry Puppy Foods

Bosley is on Orijen.
Minus the fact that he's a turd sometimes and likes being picky, he's done very well on this food. He poops maybe 4 times a day whereas on other foods he was a pooping machine... |

Lily my 11 week old is on Orijen and is adjusting well to it. It has omegas and all kinds of vitamins, minerals, and botanical ingredients... but mostly it is MEAT and grain free. =)

After the Taste of The Wild recall, I switched Allie over to Nature's Variety Instinct. I switch between the Salmon flavor and the LID Lamb. I haven't had any problems. It is pricey though but I think it's worth it.

I think I'm going to switch to Orijen. She pooped 7 times in the last 28 hours or so (3 of which were in her kennel). Her poops are good and solid, but it just seems she can't hold it and she's a pooping machine on this stuff! Should I switch her gradually and mix the Orijen into the 2lbs of Simply Nourish I have left from her existing bag?

Yes you should. Do not change abruptly...you think you have poop problems now? Wow change them fast and it will be a poop tornado lol

We're planning on switching Duke to "Fromm's four-star grain-free" formula. The name says it's 4-star but it's rated 5-star on the dog food advisor website.
I've thought of switching him to Orijen but I hear it is very high in protein and supposedly there are issues with feeding puppies such a high protein food. Is this true? Oh and as Goudasmom said - you want to switch the foods gradually over the course of a week as to not upset their tummies. Otherwise you'll be seeing some explosive poops! lol |
