We have been having problems with our 4month puppy to eat any type of dog food. We have tried many different brands..dry and canned. No luck. Will they eat if hungry enough? I am worried about him!

Pick one food and stick with it. Put it down for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night. Remove it after those 20 minutes. He will eventually catch on that he has to eat when fed. Do not add to it, do not hand feed him. Just put it down and walk away.

We went through this with Duke. Your puppy is probably teething and in discomfort. It would take Duke 15-45 min to finish his food but now he finishes it in 5 minutes flat! lol Don't worry too much. He'll eat when he's hungry enough.

Good luck in staying strong LOL! I went through that phase with Leila. She must've gone through at least 5 different brands because it worried me that she wasn't excited during mealtimes.

I went through that with my first boxer, until I learned better on this forum! Now every dog I've had since then does the happy dance at feeding time. Either eat or starve is my motto. The next meal is 12 hours away. No one goes hungry here!
![]() FYI: during the hunger strike period (which may last 3 days, btw), don't give any treats, which may stave off the hunger and prolong the hunger strike. |
