I just brought our new puppy home and know already I need to switch food the breeder had him on. He is on Royal Canin medium puppy. Number one reason is the amount of grain in this food and number two is the smell coming out of this pup. Oh my lord he is the stinkiest puppy ever. I think I am going to put him on BB Wilderness puppy any of you have any other suggestions?

I have recently switched Sally back to Royal Canin because her tummy wasn't doing well on Wellness Puppy, which is lower grain than Royal Canin... I am giving her this and (maybe one more) for her tummy to settle n then I might try a different better quality food. There seems to be less variety of grain free food here in Aus, compared to the States n Canada. And most of the ones that you can get I have to travel an hour to get them and an hour back!

I am currently switching my pup to the Blue Buffalo Freedom Puppy (grain free) and she loves it! I put the food we got her on in first (Nutro Max) and she sits there and waits until I put the Blue in. Haha.

We have switched Bodie's food twice since we got him from the breeder in May. First we switched to BB Freedom (Grain Free). His stools improved, but he wasn't extremely interested in eating it - and he still had one loose stool a day. After a few months we switched him again (by weening him off with a mixture of the new and old) to Wellness Core Puppy (Grain free). His stools are GREAT now and he is going less frequently (3-4x daily vs. 5-7x). He still doesn't love his food, but we are hoping once he can eat adult kibble that we can offer him different varieties in the grain free and maybe find one that he likes. The grain free high quality kibbles doesn't have a big variety of flavors.
Hope this helps! |
