Hello there - I was thinking of starting my pups on the Instinct Raw Boost Powder supplement to add to their kibble. I was wondering if anyone else has any experience using this. My hubby is not convinced we should go raw, so later down the line I am thinking of transitioning my pups fully to Instinct Kibble Raw Boost. But in the meantime, I wanted to see about adding the supplement first.

Thanks for in advance for your help.

I will eventually, but with the vet's advice, she does not want me to switch to another dog food after they were having issues in the last switch. She wants me to stay on my current kibble for a while, for several bags since they are doing well with it so far. I am only on the 2nd bag. I may try to switch over after the 4th bag or so. What they are currently on has a lower protein percentage and they are doing well on it, so I was considering the supplement because they need to gain a bit more weight, especially Duke. So this is why I wanted to go this route first. They have very sensitive tummies.

So I emailed Nature's Variety to find out where they source their meats from, this is what they wrote back to me. It makes me feel better. They only source the raw and canned rabbit from China. :) So this is still a good option for my fur-babies and it is a 5-star kibble. I picked up a can of Raw Boost Powder Venison today, I will see how it goes.

"All of our poultry, pork, bison, and beef come from the U.S. and our lamb and venison are imported from Australia and New Zealand. Our vegetables and fruits are sourced from the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East, depending on the ingredients. Our grains and starches are sourced from the U.S., Canada, and Brazil - herbs and spices from North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Our pharmaceutical grade vitamins and minerals are from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The rabbit protein we use in our raw diet is from China. The rabbit in our canned is sourced from Italy and China, while the rabbit in our kibble is from France. We employ a U.S. educated food scientist in China to oversee our rabbit sourcing. All rabbit protein is tested before shipment from China and again after it arrives in the U.S. for processing into our raw diet. We are very confident in how we handle our sourcing from China. We source most of our ingredients from the U.S. and turn to other locations only as needed. We are very stringent on our sourcing and have good relationships built with our vendors for quality ingredients."

Two years ago I was feeding Instinct Rabbit Kibble and their source in France dried up. For two months i fought to access this food and then once I was able to get it again I ended up reading three months later that they began to use Rabbit meat from china in their kibble.
Now, i understand that they could not contact everyone who feeds it, but i would just rather not feed a food where that is even an option. Something to consider is the distance the meat has to travel before processing. I absolutely do not trust this company.

I do not feed them any rabbit protein yet, they are on a LID kibble. So I started adding the powder to their kibble the last 2 weeks and I have seen improvement in their weight (they are a bit leaner and Duke is gaining weight), their coat is shinier and smoother, and their poop is firmer. :)

I do not think I will make the switch to the kibble yet, but I like what the powder is doing for them so far so I will stick to that for a while.
