Looking for Boy Names Starting with "M"

So we are bringing home our baby boy boxer this Saturday, and have not yet nailed down a name for him. My wife and I want to wait until we see him to "officially" name him, but we're not sure if we have the "perfect" name on our list yet.

Here's the criteria:

> Preferably it will start with an "M" (so that it goes with our other pup Molly), but open to names that don't start with "M"
> Not overly common, like "Max" or "Marty"
> Nothing that sounds too much like "Molly" (e.g., Marley)

So far here are some names that I like:

> Mumford: we are big fans of Mumford & Sons and this is a pretty unique name for a dog
> Mako: I love sharks, and boxers are kind of built like sharks (in that they are lean, fast, agile, and beautiful creatures)
> Moose: my wife came up with this one, and I kind of like it since it describes a large, clumsy creature in my head
> Tank: doesn't start with an "M" but the videos I've seen of my pup are pretty fitting of this name since he is pretty stout and thick-boned

Open to any suggestions! :discuss:

I love the name Moose! I've known a black lab and a boxer/mastiff cross both named Moose and the name is so fitting for those big, goofy, awkward types.

I also like Marshall (I am pregnant and we are considering that for a boy name for the baby) and Maverick.

Mason, Monty, Marcel, Marius, Maurice....

Or Boris, Barney, Basil, so many names, not enough dogs!

We met Syd for the first time, when he was 3 days old, and I decided on the name then, on the drive back.
My husband wasn't overly keen, so we kept coming up with other names, but none of them seemed fitting, I kept going back to Syd.
Saw him again at 4 weeks, and decided that was the name he was going to have!
The breeders started using the name, which helped on bringing him home. We were lucky enough to be able to visit him throughout the first 10 weeks, so he got to know us, which made bringing him home a lot easier.
He knows when he has been naughty, as he then gets called Sydney!
He also gets called Squid, Squiddly or Squiddly diddly doooooo!

Our last boxer was Leo, but was often called fleabe, not because he was prone to fleas, I hasten to add, but because he jumped like a flea!

Creating a short list in preparation for Saturday/pick-up day... I think we will narrow it down to 5 or so and know when we see him. Just need to get my wife's buy-in on the names first :)

I'm really liking Maverick for "m-names"... we'll see if the wife agrees.

Also thought of:

Rebel- since we all know how stubborn and "rebellious" boxers can be
Cash- short for cassius clay/muhammed ali and falls in line with naming a boxer after a boxer

Still compiling...:-B

So in the 1 1/2 hours that we have from picking our pup up tomorrow and driving home, this is the list that will likely include his name... unless there's any last-minute changes:

> Bear
> Cash
> Dexter
> Jake
> Jax
> Mason/Mace
> Mako
> Maverick
> Moose
> Mumford
> Oakley
> Oscar
> Rebel
> Tank
> Tyson/Ty

Thanks for all of your suggestions. Let me know of any last minute entries! :)

I'll introduce our pup and his name next week!
