I am looking into getting a SUV but in the mean time have a 4 door Mazda. I try to keep a seat cover on it to avoid stubborn Boxer hair but sometimes it's in the wash or moves around and Roxy and Porsha hair get on the seats.
How do I get it off????? The vacuum is useless and I've tried using sticky rollers - they hep but takes forever. Do any one have any tips or tricks???
My back seat is probably forever covered in dog hair.
I can't get it out, so i can't offer advice, but will be following this thread to see if someone has the answer.
Put on a rubber glove(like the one you do dishes with). Rub the glove over the seat and gather the hair into a pile then vacuum. I have black cloth seats in my car and white boxers, it works well.
I could never find a solution for dog hair in the SUV, so I went out and bought some fake leather seat covers. I got a complete set for back and front seats from a liquidation centre for about $40 and it's the best money I ever spent. I can just wipe or vacuum the dog hair away, and if they have dirty paws it just wipes right off. And if I ever want to sell my vehicle the seat fabric underneath the covers will be pristine.
Thats a great idea! I was thinking about getting reg seat covers so its easier to take off and wash but I never thought about getting fake leather ones! I will be on the hunt all day for this LOL
Boxer hair has a mind of its own! One time I was walking in my house and stepped on something.. I thought was a splinter from the floor. I sat down to take a look and it was a dog hair that stabbed me in the foot and was stuck in my skin! I call them little porcupine quills.
Yep, been there still there :/, between dogs, cats.....its a chore. I have come to the point I don't invite anyone over anymore. My chihuahuas like to cover themselves in their beds, what a job getting the hair off their beds and their blankets I am now throwing away every other wash as I just can't get the embedded hair out. It hooks itself in the fabric. I have bought all kinds of pet hair removers .
I buy small fitted sheets to put over the dog beds. It doesn't keep ALL the hair out but it helps! It's easy just to take them off and either shake them out or toss the sheet in the wash.
It's crazy because I was always under the impression that boxers weren't shedders! At least it's not horrendous shedding.
My BFs parents have a lab retriever whose hair I'm still trying to get out of the rug and couches (they stayed with us about a month ago). somehow I am still finding her hairs on my clothes it's nuts!
Oh yeah they shed, when I clean carpets I always have to dig this reddish stuff out of the cleaner, when we had molly I had black and red stuff that was when I was sure it wasn't just carpet fuzz. Next house may have no carpets.
A shop vac with an attachment works pretty good. My vacuum has suction control and I just hike it all the way up and it seems to work better. It's also a pet vacuum so has a nice attachment with a rubber brush instead of the normal one. It's a bissel power glide pet. Also comes with a febreeze filter that I put my own oils on.
This thread cracks me up. I am looking to buy a new car and my father showed me a car the other day with cloth seats. I was like you are kidding right... Cora would have her white fur all over the seats in a heart beat. My current car now has leather and her fur is so easy to remove even if it still gets everywhere. Lol!
Oh I so wish I had read this thread before trading in my car. It had leathers seats and the new one cloth. I spent two hours trying to get the hair off the new cars seats. That's with a cover on the back seat and just dealing with the edges that were no covered.....
I had to rent a car and it had cloth seats. I had Cora in it for maybe twenty minutes.. Spent two hours vacuuming it afterwards to get all the fur.
