So our boxer just turned a year old. Currently, we are having some issues with his ears. The vets are working on it but one thing that I'm noticing is that he shakes himself all the time. All the time. It's like he just gets out of the rain or the bath and needs to dry himself off, but he's not wet. Is this normal behavior? One of the things we have tried to fix his ear issue is changing his food. So I thought allergies might be the issue but he's done this on multiple different foods. Any thoughts?
A video clip would be useful. And if he is having "problems" with his ear...which at first seemed kind of vague but upon further reflection...water in the ear or a related problem would explain the "shaking!"
You might need to find a different vet or tell your current vet about the shaking, if you have not done so??
I'll try to get a video clip up here sometime. It's hard to predict when it's going to happen. But it really does look exactly like what he does when he gets out of the bath and is wet. Just like he's trying to dry off.
I know I was vague on the ear thing. That's because we don't know what it is yet. Our first vet said boxer ear vasculitis. Basically, the tips of his ears seem like they are being eaten away. Just the very tip. It then dries and scabs over and then eventually the scab falls off and he bleeds again. We are actually going to a new vet soon to get another look at it.
This may sound silly but perhaps some dry flakes fall into his ear, or feels like it does and he shakes them to get them out?
