Bonnie is being very brave although she is sad. Beauty our white boxer aged 10 was put to sleep 2 days ago as she had heart failure. Bonnie is missing her lots as she has never been the only dog before as she is 8 and Beauty was here when she arrived so was her mom.

We are taking Bon on extra walks, giving her treats and lots and lots of fuss. It is always heart breaking to see a dog grieve. We are in pieces but Bonnie is cheering us up.

Boxers are so emotional and thoughtful.

Boxers are half human :)

HALF AND HALF

They call me a boxer,
But I'm a half breed,
Part boxer of course,
And part people indeed.

Anyone who owns me knows it's true,
We're so close to being people,
We're like part of you,

"He's one of the family",
You've heard people say,
"Don't know how we'll manage when he passes away".

But they'll get another boxer,
A pure bred at first,
Not the most well behaved puppy,
But far from the worst.

Then the change will take place,
The same as before,
They'll end up with the same,
Human half-breed once more.

Thank you so much for the poem - if you think of it like that yes they do display unique characteristics. It made me smile which can only be good right now! Maggie and Mungo are gorgeous! When you have 2 boxers, the way they interact with each other and protect each other. Beauty the one who passd on Wednesday protected Bonnie and gave way to her with everything but food!

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your boxer girl Beauty. It is very difficult to loose a beloved pet I can understand that Bonnie is too feeling the loss. I may have mentioned before a good friend of mine has siberian huskies. One passed away at 15 years old and the one left behind continues to suffer the loss of its partner. Its better now and they did get a puppy but the two are not bonding. The old dog just cries, literally cries for its soul mate. It has also become destructive, chews, and will pee in the house. Its always been an inside dog but now its wants to be outside much of the time. I think it is still looking for its friend. So I guess we all feel that connection whether we are human or dog :( I can say your loss will ease with time but lets face it we always feel it.
