Any other White Boxers get mistaken for Pit Bulls?

So we have had Molly for almost a week. We take her on at least 1 walk every day. So far almost every walk we have run into people who comment on how pretty she is and then say, "She's a pitbull right?". When I tell them she is a Boxer,I get the whole "I didn't know there were white boxers!" thing. Does anyone else run into this with your white boxers?

By and large that only happens with the "ignorant" and the "clueless." The ignorant are already making judgements...don't waste your time with them! The "clueless" may very well have not seen a "White Boxer!"

While certainly not rare they are not very common...unless you go here:

I used to think the "Johnson" type ABD's were Boxer/APBT mixes! Look a lot like Boxers except they are freaking huge! Body type is more pitt like but the face! :)

A GSD member pointed me in the right direction and yep that explained my confusion...Johnson type ABD.

Yep that is a big dog! And yes look at that face! :)

My plan was to add a Johnson ABD to my pack, but my pack started to disappear on me in three-year intervals. :( So down to the GSD and because he scared the living crap out of my wife ...he also put me out of the "foster business!"

116 lbs of OS WL GSD out of control in your living room and you learn to get with the program real quick! I got it done but the better half was kinda traumatized!

Bullys were my thing! My GSD was just a furry dog with a funny face!

But he turned out to be quite a bit more! But my next dog will be a Boxer!! :) Then maybe a Johnson!

But yeah I'll take pictures there was a Dogue de Bordeaux and a Scottish Deerhound out here a few years ago! Did not expect to see those here and of course Boxers and Bull Dogs and Bostons and Pugs! :)

A few GSD also but I only see them in cars going somewhere or coming from somewhere?? I hear some of them actually like people?? I have never met one like that myself?? Most could careless about people...very un Boxer like! But in a GSD...much better than the alternative!

Not a dog for "fools!" If you don't have your crap together "Molossers" that size don't attack people, they eat people!

Not the same "breed" but in the same class! I love them but you best have your "crap together!"

Nuff said! :)

I really like big dogs. I've had a great GSD, several rotties and always wanted a Dogue de Bordeaux. Now that I have this boxer in the house I really do love the loving nature of them. Maybe another boxer as long as I stay healthy and agile, but I am getting older and noticing I'm not quite the same as I have been... so maybe no more big dogs for me? We will see.

Love those guy! The one I saw was in the back of a van I could not quite make him out but it was the size of a "person" and my first thought was 'Wow" that is the"ugliest" person I have ever seen! :)

Marilyn saw him again and she said it was a Dogue de Bordeaux?? I thought in Dayton NV?? No freaking way! But then I saw him at the local store and yep sure enough! Freaking awesome!

I luv every dog with a Boxer face! But I have to say" Dogue de Bordeaux= Go Big or go home!" :)

I don't usually get pit bull but I'm from the UK so we don't get many pitbulls over this way however I have had American bull dog, some have even asked if he is a mastiff cross which was some what an insult as he is pure breed.. besides he's to small for dogue de bordeaux

Might be an insult for you?? Quite common here. Gunther was a Bull/Mastiff/APBT/Lab mix aka American Band Dawg!

A Mastiff crossed with a Bully breed, quite common over here! Hence my initial confushion with the Johnson ABD??? I thought those had to be Boxer/Bulldog crosses??

Designer dogs aren't all Labradoodles or Yorkiepoos. :)

Oh yes I totally understand that.. it's just it's not very often we come across those mixes of dog in the uk it's more a Yorkshire terrier x pug or something like that.. a mate of mine had a dogue de bordeaux x American bull dog and he was a stunner I bet he weighed around 7 stone mark.. and to be honest that is the only cross mastiff mix I have ever seen over here

WOW!!! That would be freaking awesome!!! :)

I was working my way up the American Band Dawg path that's how I found Gunther he was a fourth generation I think it is dog?? Mom was Lab/APBT (biggest lab you ever saw!) and Dad was an F1 first gen APBT/Bull Mastiff He was magnificent! Pit Red he had a APBT head and was the size of a Bull Mastiff! And despite how fierce he looked...he loved people!

Mom...not so much! I did not really care for the lab part, but it turned out they knew something! Gunther loved people, but yeah the pitt part, other dogs took some work! It was hard to see any Lab in Gunther but get him around water and it was on! :)

Here is a good site on the whole Band Dawg thing:
Midgard Mastiffs

He uses a lot of Great Danes though in order to get a taller dog. Not to impressed with that choice myself.

But I fell in love with Boxers and went that way. Incidently it's on his site somewhere but I can't find it. He does not use Boxers for the same reason I love them! He found them to be too...Goofy! :clap2:

I would say that most likely he was seeing American Boxers "not" the Euros!

Boxers are a very flexible breed!

Well "diego" my mates dogue de bordeaux x American bull dog he's was a very vocal and in your face dog.. he wasn't vicious and wouldn't attack you but he made sure you knew he was watching you.. he gave you what we called the "death stare" which was where he would just stare at you with his huge green eyes but it was almost like he was looking into your soul.. he was a very big and very scary dog.. I agree boxers are very goofy dogs but they are a magnificent breed, extremely loyal, incredibly brave, very headstrong but obedient but most of all they are very affectionate and loving to their pack.. I have had all kinds of dogs ranging from jack Russell to working class border collies to siberian huskies and my boxer certainly comes in my top 3 of the dogs I have had

Aww yes....I call that a "cold hard stare!" To a responsible dog owner that's a wake up call! You best get your crap together fast or someone is getting hurt!

I can't imagine a "Boxer" doing that myself??? But "crap" happens! At that point it's time to deal and click and treat "aren't going to cut it!" I did not find dealing with it that big a deal with my GSD. In essence show the dog what you want and "walks are important!!" Lessons from Cesar, who lots of folks blame every problem in the world for! Depends on what you see, and most of what he does is "transparent" but I can see it! Took ten years but I get it! :)

he was a very big and very scary dog..
Yes PP dogs aka American Band Dawgs! You can rest assured if a PP dog is what someone needs... "Apperance is important!" And agility and endurance aside PP inside of 10 feet??? A perp is going to lose that bet! If they are'nt armed, with a Gun?? "No one" in their right mind would be screwing with you! And if they aren't in there right mind and you have a properly trained PP American Band Dawg?? Yeah not a problem!!! :)

I to luv my Boxers! And the American Boxers are the Clown Princes of the Dog World!! And that is exactly what I luv about them!! But yes a very versatile Breed for those that "need" a serious Boxer, "we" have that covered!

Cliff vom Grand Kevin

A member here has one of Cliff's sons! So for those that need a "serious" Boxer "we" got that covered!

It's funny the American SL GSD dogs, I have no interest in myself. But the American Boxers I luv! People are kind funny!

Curious did you have "recall with your "Siberian huskies??" That seems to be a big issue with Husky owners???

Too big and thin for my taste.
I guess these guys would disagree with me about Danes in general:

Ambullneo Mastiff - a Companion for life

:) AKA yet again American Band Dawg!

But Dane's as a dog...my DIL had one and he was a great dog after his SA issues were solved! But the size thing...that's called "training" you don't need strength to walk/control a "properly trained dog" regardless of size! :)

yeah, when I look at valant I used to wonder too...(look at his back in my sig)

we encountered a nice female last week,I will shoot a pic if I ever carry a cam (they live near us)...she`s 100% boxer looking but way big (big paws like valant) and the color is off (about the same paint job as a bernese-black top with white legs and fawn between)

Most likely a full Euro, I'd say Valant was a Euro also?? The Euros seem to be about the biggest open secert in Boxer world?? My girl was all American and weighed in at a solid 65 lbs. Right on spec for female American Boxers and pretty much the same as a Female Malinois!

Still she looked "tiny next" to a Male Boxer!! I was always surprised at the difference in size?? I'd say something like 20 to 30 percent smaller than a male Boxer, I'm sure a full Euro male would have made her look like a "miniature" Boxer!

But hey what she lacked in size she made up with Goofy Cuteness and speed! :)

But the Johnson ABD I'll have to look again and see how they did that?? Top of my head, I would say an English BullDog and there are many types some actually have legs! :) And a Scott type maybe?? But there is no doubt those guys have a Boxer face!

They probably made crappy catch dogs though?? Don't know??
