Well I decided to get another after my heartbreak of loosing Buster in March. He's was such a great dog, I guess I forgot what having a 12 week old boxer was like. I'm having a problem with him eating and gaining any weight. 12 weeks old and only weighs 16 lbs. His ribs and backbone and hips are very visable. No worms as he is up on all vet visits. I've tried high quality puppy food from an all natural pet store.....to science diet. One day he will eat three times a day...the next day maybe a few bites all day. Never experience a malnourished looking pet before. Any advice?

What food is he on now?? And calm down! What does a vet say about his body condition??

I can tell you that Struddell was a very bony puppy! I heard a lot of she is to skinny from friends! Struddell was a clone of her mom so I was never concerned.

Full grown she was right at 65 lbs of solid muscle so I was right. :)

I don't know if all Boxer pups do the bony thing but some seem to??

Lots of us worry when our boxer babies are young. We always worried that Kai was eating enough as he too would skip meals, he still does. He het a good 20 minutes to eat then we pick it up and take it away, he most always eats at the next meal. I don't think my dog weighed much more than yours at 16 weeks, most of his weight was put on between 24 weeks and 8 months. He hasn't gained very much since he was 8 1/2 months old, maybe 3 or 4 lbs.
So as long as he has been checked by your vet he is probably healthy. Maybe you could post a picture .

Mt female would only eat Fromm puppy food on a regular basis. I tried other brands, but she would stop eating. Make sure to stop the treats for a couple days. I know it's easy to give them treats to get them out of your hair.

You can use your vet's scale for free. You could go in to weigh her every week to keep track. If she's puking up yellow bile in the morning, let your vet know. Puppies also eat all kinds of non-food stuff, and get blockages. If she's eating sticks, and rummaging in the yard it may be due to nausea.
