So I've had my baby girl for about 10 weeks now and I got her when she was 9 weeks old. She's perfectly playful and goofy and all of the above however I'm going through getting her vaccinations all done, here lies my question. The vet has done a fecal test every three weeks since I got her so in total she's had about three done in the past 10 weeks and will have another tomorrow. Every time vet says that she is testing positive for round worms. I have yet to see it in her fecal matter when she goes at home and I am always picking it up right after. Does this sound right?? They keep telling me its probably because the round worms haven't reached the adult size but I mean 10 weeks and they have been doing the deworming vaccine and it still shows up? I know vets know best but I'm looking for an opinion now as a flustered new puppy mom ? thank you for the help!!

Roundworms only show up in the feces if the dog has a very heavy infestation, so it is completely normal for them to have the parasite and for it not to be visible in their poop if they have only a moderate worm load. The medication to kill roundworms only works on a certain life stage of the worm, so it generally takes multiple rounds of medication before all the worms are killed off. Doesn't sound to me like anything your vet is doing/telling you is out of the ordinary.

My puppy had worms when I got her, tapeworms were noticeable in her poop. When she went in for 2nd set of shots they tested her and said she had a lot of the roundworm eggs in her feces. They gave her medicine and then I saw the roundworms, which are disgusting by the way.....only saw them same day of the pill then didn't see any again until day after her next pill 2 weeks later. She has her last set of shots tomorrow and I am hoping she tests negative. She has gained around 11 pounds in past 4 weeks so I am thinking the worms are finally gone as she was on the skinny side last visit.
