We picked up our sweet girl this morning. She cried a little in the car. The breeder gave me a blanket that had her sibling and mama's scent. She did great with our dog Charlie. He is super gentle with her. We took her outside to potty but she did not go instead she laid down in the warm sun and was trying to sleep. I brought her inside and she is sleeping. I plan to take her out again when she wakes up to get her to pee. We are in love already!!

Charlie is occasionally interested in playing ball. If there is another dog then he suddenly becomes more interested. She is so sweet and cuddly. Nothing better than puppy breath. They are still snoozing together. She did drink a bit of water outside and then went to sleep. I offered her food because she seems too skinny to me. She wasn't interested in it which isn't surprising it's a whole new world for her. Just hope she pees once she wakes up.

Thanks! She is a sleepy baby. I finally got her to eat kibble I added some warm broth to it. She seems really skinny to me. I will fatten her up some. She hasn't had 1 accident yet and has been going potty outside and sleeping. She played for a while and that was about it.

Yesterday Bella ate all of her lunch. Today I made it the same but let it get cool and she refused to eat it. She ate some out of my hand but then refused to eat any. The breeder said she has always been a good eater. Should I give her more food at dinner or offer it to her later today? Thanks for the advice!

She is very cute. Don't worry too much about the eating my puppy boxer was not great for the first few weeks, we found that adding some broth to the kibble helped, also we changed bowls as she was frightened of her metal bowl. We went for a Slo-Bowl.

My Lily eats very well now, but has been skinny all her life so far. We have her at 24 KG now and that seems about right.

i'd keep her crated as long as you are there just so she gets accustomed to it and learns to hold it. Right now she can't hold it very long but it gets better quickly. I would say she can probably hold it for 1 1/2 hours, immediately pick her up when she wakes and carry her out to her potty spot and be sure to use the divider in the crate so its only big enough for her to stand up and lie down. The first week we had ours we took him our ever 30 minutes, regardless. He got the idea pretty quick by the time he was 9 weeks he slept thru the night without any accidents. In fact he only had 3-4 accidents ever, and that was when he was free and we just weren't quick enough because at the very be ginning he would just pee for no reason by keeping him in his crate he learned to hold it for longer times.

Max only had a few accidents. He was a dream to potty train. I had my grandson at the time and had to take him to school or run errands. He was 11 weeks when we got him so he could hold it a bit longer than your baby. He would be crated. He never had an accident in the crate - we were very lucky. Try taking her out to play for a while and hopefully she'll take care of business while you are out. She needs to earn her bedding so since she's had an accident you need to remove it and she if she potties in the crate where there's nothing to absorb it. Is there room in the exercise pen for her crate? If so,you could leave the crate door open so she'll have some freedom. I wouldn't leave her alone with disposable potty pads, she'll tear them to shreds and possibly eat them. If you have washable ones you could leave a couple down and hope she uses them. Good luck - she's going to grow fast. Some days will go slow, but before you know it she'll be 4 months old then 6 months and a year and you'll wonder where the time went.

Thanks for the advice! Yes her crates one upstairs and one in our family room are divided so there is just enough Tom for her to stand and turn around. At night she had been really good and has not had any accidents only this morning. I feel bad crating her when we are there but I think I will do it more often so she gets use to it. She cries for the first 15 minutes she is in there then gets quiet. I don't think the sound machine helped her. I think I will try the radio for background. I left her in the crate right now so I could pick up my husband from the train station so only for an hour I hope she does better this time and no accidents. She did pee before I left outside. She has been so good about going out to potty and catching on quickly! She even used the Doggy door to go out and pee on the grass! I appreciate all the advice! I know she will grow quickly and this phase will be over soon. She is such a calm dog. She likes to play like all puppies but settles right down and is happy relaxing next to you.

So instead of crating her this morning when dropping off my hubby I had her sit in my sons lap for the car ride. Well she cried the whole drive there! I figured she would have liked to be with us rather than being crated. She finally got quiet on the drive home. Then I played with her and took her out to potty and put her in the crate and went to drop off my son and I listened by the back door and she was quiet! When I got back she was sleeping. She was a dream last night. I took her out to potty at 9:45pm and put her in the crate by my bed she cried for the usual 8 minutes then settled down and went to sleep. I heard her crying and figured it was like 12pm so I looked at the clock and it was 5am! She slept all night without a peep or peeing. I was so proud of her. She also was so good about running to the back door to be let out to pee all afternoon. Even when we were playing in the living room she stopped ran to the back door and I let her out and she went to the bathroom that happens three times! I am shocked she has been this easy to potty train so far! I guess the consistency is paying off she gets it. She is even learning sit and will sit for her food.

You're right. It won't be a while before I trust her to not have an accident even though she is doing so well. I have been clipping her leash on her collar and then calling her to play with her toys. I am having her get comfortable with it on. Whenever I pick up the leash she immediately bucks like a bull and pulls back. I really don't want to use a harness so I will just have to keep working to get her to come to me with it. I got some bil jack soft training treats which she eats but just doesn't seem motivated which is weird because when she eats her food she eats quickly. I have another bag of training treats different brand. Hopefully I find some that she goes crazy for to train her. I carried her on our walk last night so she could get out. How long did your pup take to be comfortable walking on a leash and tricks? Thanks

It'll take a few weeks for her to like the leash. I'd hold a treat out in front of Zoe sometimes to get to to walk without fighting it. Sometimes I'd leash Max and walk around the yard with him Zoe would be trailing her leash beside us, eventually I could pick it up and she'd walk too. It may take a few weeks for her to like and crave treats, but it'll probably happen! In the meantime, you can use pieces of her kibble as a treat. Start with sit and coming to her name, once she's good at sit you can move to down. When she's sitting take a treat from her mouth level straight to the ground saying down and eventually she'll learn it. Google teaching tricks and you'll find some videos.

Kai actually did pretty well on his leash. I've always put a collar and leash on him to take him out to potty, so he did get use to it pretty fast. I've never used treats for training, only praise, which is good because he till isn't food motivated. He is a love bug.

Ok thanks for the tips! I will try her walking next to Charlie and see if that helps. The treats smell good to me. Maybe she'll just need time. I have never had a puppy who didn't love treats so it's weird but I do lots of verbal praising. She is getting good at coming when called. I love working with my dogs to get them to do as many commands as possible. I taught Charlie bang and he lays dead. I can't wait for this pup to finish her shots so we can go for short walks. She gets a little heavy carrying around :)

I carried Zoe in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning if she slept a long time until I trusted her to hold it from our bedroom to the backyard! They get heavy fast! Walking with Charlie will help her get the idea of what you want her to do.
