hey guys i have some exciting news!! well at least  for me :) I was speaking with the breeder i planned on getting my new pup from and she told me about a friend of hers who is also a breeder who is trying to find a home for a 2 year old female. Apparently this dog is not show quality and the lady wants to find a home for her. The only stipulation is that the dog must be spayed, which is fine because i agree with the spaying/neutering of animals. so i talked with the breeder who actually owns the boxer and i have an appointment to go look at it tomorrow. The reason for the post (other than to share the hopefully good news) is that she stated that the boxer was a "rare" mahogany boxer. Now i have been around boxers my whole life, and have owned a few as well and i have personally never heard of a mahogany boxer. Now i know that some breeders, especially byb will use the word rare in attempt to raise the price of the pups. Has anyone ever heard of a mahogany boxer? Any info that anyone has would be much appreciated.

Rare!    Oooh that just burns me when people list any color in the boxer as "rare". No, "mahogany" color is like the "black" or "white" "rare" boxer colors. Some people do call their fawns mahogany. Some just have a deeper fawn color, so they refer to them as mahogany. I think they are beautiful no matter what "color" they are.  Just please be wary of this "breeder." If she is reputable, I don't think she would be using the term "rare" in any instance to describe her dogs. Please check her out and make sure she has done all the proper health testing and conformations with her dogs.
Good luck in your search. Let us know how it goes!  :)

well guys u went and looked at her today. She is beautiful!! i talked with the breeder and looked at the info showing that she has had her health tests and such. We have a second appointment on friday to introduce my daughter to her before a decision is made. The breeder wants to make sure that both child and dog will get along before we take her home. Looks good so far! i will keep y'all posted.

Sounds great Andrea..I'm happy for you and your daughter..Did you ask the breeder about the "rare" mahogony color thing? Maybe it somehow got twisted up in the translation, you know how that happens? What's her kennel name? I'd like to check her and her dogs out...

Now why didn't you think to take a camera?????

I actually did take a camera, but i left it in the car!! I did speak with her about the "rare" comment and there was some miscommunication. She meant that it is rare in our area of Texas (which is true-i have not heard of/seen the mahogany prior to meeting with her) not for the breed. Her kennel name is Southern Star Kennel, located right outside Azle, TX. Now Friday just seems so far away!!

Mandie looks like Henry, only she is a little darker and doesnt have as much white on her. She may look darker to me though BECAUSE she doesnt have as much white!! i will be taking pics of her on friday and will be posting them. Hopefully things go well and she will come home on friday also!
