Default What size crate?

I am starting to gather supplies that I need before Nita gets here and I want to get a crate for her. *What size crate is normally recommended for an adult boxer? *She is on the smaller side compared to the boxers that I have met before.

I think you mentioned that Nita is 9 yrs. If she is already potty-trained, then probably not an issue but we had to downsize Lucy's crate because she was having accidents in it. We realized that the crate was too big for her.

you could get the large one with the divider for her and that way you can set the divider to fit her exactly..that is if you have the room because the big one is quite big. i got mine at walmart which is cheaper than any of the pet stores here...OR you could simply wait until Nita is home and take her in to petsmart that day or any other pet store and pick one out to fit her precise measurements. good luck

I may have to wait and see when I get her. I need an excuse to take her to the petstore anyways . I want to get one for her so that she has somewhere that she can go that is her own and also because she is notorious for getting into trouble. *I also don't know how she is going to be with with my cats so I want everyone to be safe when not supervised and that goes for Nita too. * I am hoping that after a while we won't need it while we aren't home. *I only work 2 mornings a week so she won't be in it long. *I am getting a kong and someother things to keep her busy while we aren't home. *I do have a giant crate from my greyhound but it is so huge and I don't have a place for it anymore(especially in my bedroom where I plan on putting the new one.)

The one I have was the one I bought for my greyhound. *It was actually a little small for him, luckily I was able to ween him off the crate pretty quickly. *It's actually a really good fit for Cooper, though. *
41" long
26" wide
29" tall

Is she crated now? *Has she ever been crated? *

Most people get the wire crates. *I bought one for my puppy anticipating his size as an adult. *Precision Crates (a popular brand) give the weight of the adult dog it would contain. *The large crate says it will hold a 70 pound dog. *It actually has a photo of a boxer on it. *The next size up (XL) is for 100+ pounds so you'd be safe with a large crate. *It also comes with a divider. *I would look online first before you go to the store. *Google dog crates and you'll find more than enough options.

If you anticipate her having issues with the crate and trying to escape, the plastic ones can actually be stronger.

I'd get an ex-pen, they are much larger and you can adjust the size by folding up some of the panels if need be. *I use them for my dogs once their house broke. *You can accordian it up and slide it under the bed or lay it against the wall and when you need it, wha-la, you just whip it out and put it up. *JB Wholesale has inexpensive ones. *I would probably get a 48 inch, though mine are fine with a 30 inch as they learned to respect the kennel walls by being crate trained as puppies. *Good luck with the new addition.

We got Odin the XL from walmart... only $67... and I think he would have done great in their Large. It also comes with the divider to adjust it as they grow!! I LOVE IT.
