Default How many of you crate your dogs together?

I'm curious to know how many members crate their multiple dogs together. I noticed on some avatar pics that it is done and am thinking of trying it. Annie & Hokie get along great and it would be nice to downsize to a single crate instead of 2 gigantic ones! Is this a smart idea? They both don't mind going into their crates and they both love to stretch out. Do I just throw them in there together, or ease them in? Thanks!

My two little guys crate share, and they are fine. I guess it just depends on them, and if they have enough room, and whether you think they would be happy together

Crating two dogs together is a recipe for disaster. I would NEVER do it. Your dogs may get along just fine BUT what happens when one of them just wants to have their own space and CAN'T get away from the other one.....it's a fight waiting to happen. I've read of disastrous results from crating two dogs together. My 3 dogs all sleep together on dog beds at night piled into a big dog pile BUT they are all crated separately when we aren't home. I HIGHLY recommend against doing this.

I would never do it either. Mine would tear each other apart, either intentionally or unintentionally. Only one of mine gets crated now when I'm out though so space isn't a big issue. Quite honestly I don't think I've seen a crate thats big enough to fit both of mine comfortably anyway. It would have to be the same square footage as 2 separate crates, right?

My two girls are crated together quite often, basically everyday. It has a lot to do with the chemistry between the dogs. My two girls are amazing together, basically snuggle up together. I also had two males who were crated together. One thing i would say is to make sure the crate is large enough to have enough space.

I only have one dog, but just the thought of two of them crated together scares the crap out of me. I agree with what has been said. If one is having a bad day and wants his space, it's a disaster in the making.

Mine probably could but I want them to have as much space as possible; so they crate seperately. Their crates are really close together though and I leave the tv on for them; ESPN, Mike and Mike in the morning....like they care but who knows maybe they do.

Max likes to stetch out...even though they might both could fit....I , personally wouldn't do it. Stella went into his crate today when I started to leave and he looked at her like WTH!!! Get outta my house!!

I do it!

When I had my 2 pugs and not Tucker they crated together, they would cry for eachother if not.

Now with Tucker here, the Alpha (fawn pug) loves her crate to herself.

Tucker cries at night if he's in his crate alone, so I stuck my black pug (Zoe) in with him, they are inseperable anyway. If you see Tucker you see Zoe vice versa. I WOULD NEVER stick my fawn pug in Tucker's crate..she lives up to the name of a female dog

I would never crate my two, or any two dogs together. You never know when they may get in a squabble over something and then they have no way to escape each other. The picture in my signature was taken while the door was open at my mom's house and they just decided to sleep in there together, but the door was never closed on them.
As you can see, it wouldn't be big enough for two boxers anyway.
