I agree in wondering where the owner was at the time, but sometimes dogs do get out unintentionally. It's happened to a few members on BF. I'm not saying that this is what happened, but we don't know his story either. He was around at some point to inform the cops that it was in fact a boxer, which they're still denying.

I hope the ASPCA steps in. I also hope that they don't put this poor dog down. We'll see what happens I guess

I was stupid and watched the video.. made me upset then pissed me off even more. The way that whole situation was treated was unnecessary. The isn't a pit, but even if it was, it wasn't showing any aggression. If it did after it had a taser in its face, I don't blame it! The poor thing was scared and confused.

How would anybody react to some stranger yelling at them telling them to "go home" and then when you try to back away they come at you and taser you?!

I don't hate cops, but I think that sometimes they act and then think later. In this situation it could have been avoided. Did the dog bite at him? No.. did it even growl? NO! There are way too many pets shot and injured because a cop got "scared". Or they were trying to "protect themselves". From what? A BARKING dog?!

That is so disturbing and I really hope action is taken against the officer. I realize the laws in Ohio state your dog must be confined or on a leash from what I read and the owner should be fined accordingly. But to have your dog classified as a "Pit Bull" and tasered twice is very cruel and inhumane! I would sue the city, county, local law enforcement, etc. A lot of white Boxers can be deaf and I know that was not taken into consideration. Sorry for the rant, I am just shocked and disturbed by this!

That gave me chills. I think people are so uneducated. I have so much anger when people act this way. That dog was not even acting aggressive, all my dogs bark like that.
I belong to a few groups that are trying to get rid of the BSL laws in the U.S. and trying to educate people about the bully breeds, they have done some great work.
How are some people so dumb, and still make it in this world.
This whole thing makes me sick.

Here is a link to sign a petition to save Otis' life
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-o ... oxers-life

There's a hearing in Lakewood today at 3PM to determine if he's a vicious breed. The owner has a hearing on August 4th. Apparently Otis is staying in the shelter until after the hearing, but if they determine he is a pit bull (which the animal warden is ever saying he is) then they could kill the dog today. Please help save Otis!!

omg! if that happened to one of my babies, i think they would of had to taser me to prevent me from beating the crap out of that police officer, what ever happened to the old ways they used to catch the dogs, this really pisses me off. (signed)

Unreal. This story has now gone from disturbing to absolutely ridiculous. I figured at least the cops didn't kill the dog and life would go on, but now their over-reacting has indirectly put this dog on death row. I would hope any dog would fight back when cornered by threatening people. I would expect my dogs to take a chunk out of anyone who attacks them. What is a dog supposed to do in that situation? What the heck is going on in our country that we mistakenly think dogs are supposed to act like little baby bunny rabbits? The owner should be on trial for letting a dog roam the streets but the dog didn't do anything wrong here.
