Default European vs American Boxers

I just learned recently that there are two different kinds of boxers...how do you tell which one you have? what are the major differences?

i was told today that Manny isn't a purebreed...apparently, his nose isn't short enough to make him a purebred.

Manny has AKC...doesn't that mean he's pure?

Was going to provide that link too David!! Thanks!!!

A boxer is a boxer is a boxer - same standard just different interpretations of it or "style". Your pedigree is the best example on the origion of your boxer whether it included dogs that have North American bloodlines or dogs that have foreign bloodlines.

Don't believe it, and All purebred boxers DO NOT have the correct head, there are deviations and that is what makes a show dog vs a pet/companion.

Right now, I would say the only difference from Europe to America other than they all have TAILS and EARS would be, they tend to not like as much flash as we do...

I have personally noticed that the ones from Europe usually have the big block heads and short noses with the strong heavier boned bodies. The ones over here usually are fine bodied with not as blocky of a head. In my opinion your guy looks like the typical North American boxer. Beautiful marking on him too!

Manny, even with his longer nose, can still be a purebred boxer. His parents or grandparents were probably not conformation show champions. It sounds like his breeders didn't put too much emphesis (excuse my spelling) on the 'boxer' qualities the parents had and just ended up throwing 2 akc papered dogs together to produce a litter. He's still a cutie.

This is interesting:

Faults
Lack of dignity and alertness, shyness, cowardice, treachery and viciousness (belligerency toward other dogs should not be considered viciousness).

I bet you a million dollars he won't be your last.

Ours has a longer nose, too. I don't care - she's beautiful.

Manny is a cutie pie.
