We have been sought out to adopt a boxer.
We have Jake, a 20 month old pure breed neutered who has turned out to be the worlds greatest dog. We have had 2 Ninja attacks total and he is well advanced in his training, but then we had an onsite coach from his second day with us. Oden is a 16 month old pure breed neutered whos owners have been forced to downsize and no longer have a yard (we have two fenced acres for the dogs to run around on). The current owner tells us that Oden is well mannered, loving dog, Oden knows his basis commands. So what do I need to look out for and is this a good idea? Thanks in advance. |

Jake and Oden have never met.
Both Jake and Oden are full boxer. Jake has never met an animal he does not want to play with - much to the dismay of the local wildlife including skunks, deer, racoons, cats and squirls. One of my neighbors has a pair of boxers - they and Jake get along great. I understand that Oden currently lives with 2 older boxers. Jake and Oden both eat a taste of the wild. Jake grazes all day and Oden eats twice a day. |

You need to do an introduction with them. I am not a fan of same sex adoptions. Personal reasons. If you have 3 then of course you will have a same sex pair but there are ways around that to find a good fit. Good luck.

We are introducing Jake and Oden on Friday at a park. If the meeting goes well we will bring Oden home. Now for the scary part, we have only had three ninja atacks since we got Jake. We were able to teach Jake not to chew by simply taking him over to the first chewed item and sternly saying no, bad Jake.
What if Oden is not that smart? |

I recently had to move back home to my dads and we had a 11 yr old min pin at my dads who HATES every other animal in the world. After a few rough days( maybe a week) both Wyatt 5.5 months and penny (senior) get along... For the most part. They really don't bother each other. Both dogs are grazers which makes it hard bc they keep eating each others food... That's our biggest issue at the moment! Good luck I'm sure everything will be fine!

Introduction on neutral territory is a good start!
Keep us posted and good luck!
