I should have added this in the other thread along with trustworthy qquestion.
When did they start to show protectiveness for the home when people come knocking ringing or they just hear a certain noise? It doesn't have to be barking but could just be showing awareness. Oh halloween stella(almost 5mo) did a few lazy barks, she sounded chicken bucking and clucking. For only the first couple door bell rings, then she would pop her head out the door and scope out the kids reciving candy. Her brother duke which my inlaws have is barking at the door already but that is because, their 4yr old boxer does it and showed duke the ropes a little bit. This is something I'm vert interested in as this is one small reason for getting a dog, to help keep home safe |

OP (opie) has been alert and all barky at anyone walkin by the house since about 6 months. Now at 8 months, he's got a pretty intimidating bark.
If he wasnt my puppy, id be scared to touch him as he strikes that intimidating pose, looking out the window so aggressively vigilant. |

I want to say Pheona was around 7-8 months. She is on the small side but her bark makes her seem like she'd be bigger. Got a few more months before I have 2 of them barking.

bucking chicken! Thats is SOO what Sally does! She does it if she is uncertain what or where the noise is coming from. int eh past 2-3 weeks if she knows where the noise is comming from she will go to that wall, door or window and bark. very odd when she is barking at flapping curtains or blinds... but meh she will learn!
She also knows the sound of our car, when she hears it she goes to the verandah and watches us get out of the car and then runs to the front door and waits for us there, tail wagging! |

I want to say Carmen was about 8 months old before she really began to bark when she heard someone outside or knocking at the door. I call her the neighborhood watch now, lol. She is 16 months old now and she is constantly staring out of the window beside our front door and barking at those passing by. Sometimes I have to step in and tell her to knock it off.

Duke has been doing it pretty much since we brought him home at 16 weeks. It was a bit excessive as he would bark at everything, even garbage bags on the curb! lol But now he's much better

Tigger completely ignores the doorbell. He only barks when he wants to go out or play. It's awesome. I just don't know why he doesn't bark at strangers or the doorbell. He is very curious and hates to be left behind when the wife walks the children to the bus stop for school, but he just stares out the window and watches with an occasional to constant whimper. I know we're lucky though, his bark is deep, he's 10 months old, very smart and very much loved!
