Default finally got my new puppy.

Got my puppy yesterday. 13 weeks old. He cried all last night. Little better this morning. Took him for a walk he doesn't like the leash. But he went potty outside so am glad. Gave him a good warm bath.

My questions are
1. how often should i bath or or clean the puppy. What would be good shampoo for his skin.
2. So far he does not like to walk that much. he just sits there. am i doing something wrong.
3. How do i get rid of the dog odor in the house. Febreez doesn't really work i read somewhere on the internet.

Congrats on the new puppy

Unless they have layed in or rolled in poop, pee or dirt, there is little need to bath your dog. My guys get a bath maybe 3-4 times per year and its usually after playing in the mud. I prefer to use Tropiclean Hypo Puppy Formula.

Puppies dont have a clue about the leash and collar. Let him get use to them. I find that puppies are more than happy to follow your feet, so I would have a pocket full of treats and encourage him to walk forward a few feet on his own. When he does, give him a treat and repeat.

You shouldnt have any dog odour yet, especially if you just gave him a bath. By feeding a quality diet, keeping your dog clean and his bedding clean you should not have to worry about doggie smells. I have 5 adult dogs in my home and whenever people come over they dont believe me cause there is NO smell. Febreeze is not good to use around pets.

Congrats on the new addition. Can't wait to see pics. Murphy's last bath was well over a month ago after she rolled in her poop. She isn't a fan of a leash either & she used to try to get her collar off.

Not to get off topic but Murphy has dry skin. Been giving her fish oil & her skin is still dry. Any ideas???

his main shots are done. I think he has 4 optional shots left. i have to get the paper out to see which ones are left. Yes the dog does smell. i played with him for an hour and i washed my hands 5-6 times they still have a abnormal smell to them.

Congrats on your new little guy! As far as the smell- check in his ears- my mom is a vet, and I used to help her in her office. I can't even count how many times people would say - "my dog smells! I've bathed them 4 x and they still smell- I dk where it's coming from. " lol sometimes the infection in the ears makes them just plain smell. I would check to see if that's doing it. Like the others said- he def shouldn't be smelling after day one and ESP after a bath.

My friends lab smells really bad all the time, but she's a very fat dog and probably sweats a lot, with the cheapest food he can find. Even after a bath. But a puppy shouldnt stink. Feed him good food. Maybe your just extra sensitive to dog smells.. cause dogs do have their own kinda smell but its not bad or anything atleast it shouldnt be.

You shouldn't have to wash your puppy that much unless they get into something. Maybe once a month or every two months. I use Mane and Tail (with the horses on it) shampoo and conditioner. It is a really awesome brand I think.

No you're not doing anything wrong. Rosco wasn't so big on walking either. Just coax him and use lots of yummy treats and he will figure out that it's a lot of fun

Dog odor?! Rosco never has had dog odor. You may be feeding the wrong kibble and that a lot of times will make dogs have a bad smell. Other than that I use febreeze candles and once a month I will use glade powder on the carpet and vacuum it up, it smells so good!
