Default Help! Visiting a new home anxiety!!!

I'm in need of some guidance. I'm visiting my parents for the weekend and and decided to bring my dog with me, thinking that she would really enjoy it. She loves my parents and they have a nice big yard for her to play in. But as soon as she got in their house she's been nervous and trying to leave. She hasn't eaten much dinner and is suddenly scared to go down stairs. I took her out for a walk and had to pull her back inside with all my strength (and she's just shy of 7 months old). Tomorrow I had planned an evening out with friends and thought to leave my pooch with the folks, but now I'm wondering if that will traumatize her. Should I cut my trip short? Am I overreacting? I'm feeling extremely guilty for taking her out of her comfy environment. Any feedback would be welcome!

A new environment can be scary for them. Espeically if they haven't been very socialized in new places or settings. Not saying that this is the case. Try to make the place a positive place. Do positive reinforcement. Play games and pass out treats. I guess I've never had a dog react that nervously to a situation, especially when I'm around. I hope others here have more advice. Good luck

So now Kopper (my pooch) has stopped eating. We're leaving for home on Sunday at 1pm... Thank goodness! I have decided that what freaked her out was the uncarpeted floors. Without a carpet under her paws I think she feels insecure, like she'll slip any minute. I ended up going out with friends and it turns out she was happy hanging out with my Mom. I'm still a little curious ss to what happened.

Poor girl. The floors could be it. My guys don't play really on non-carpeted floors, and if they're chasing a toy they slow down as soon as they reach the tiles. I guess your place is fully carpeted? Were there any majorly different smells that also could have triggered anything? Hope she's feeling better now!
