Twelve weeks for mine.
LeiCee had hers trained in about 2 weeks. Tank took forever to get his to stand. The after care is the most important part! I am fortunate that the vet I use does rewraps every five days or so. I opt for the show cut and the vet I use seems to be the only one around here that will do it. I am also not a fan of the laser cut ears. The ones I have seen were not pretty. I have seen one Boxer with ear implants that were done when the dog was about a year old. His ears stand, but you can tell he has implants. Maybe in a dog with heavier fur they would not show, but not a Boxer.

I wish Lucy's tail wasn't docked and her ears will never be cropped, I prefer dogs to look how nature intended them to look, not how people decided to make them look.

Well boxers have very strong tails. I've heard of them breaking their tails, and dew claws can get caught on things and rip or break. My in laws boxer gracie has her tail and she whacks the coffee table all the time, and every so often you can tell it hurts her, she will kinda crouch and look back at her tail right after a good whack. So for these reasons i will always get these done. As for ears, i do not like the idea of cropping, its typically pointless. I agree some dogs look great but they prob look just the same as a floppy.

This will always be contoversial, its almost as bad as religion and politics! But in my opinion a boxer should be docked and cropped. Thats the look the founding breeders were going for when they first produced the boxer and I think it should be carried on. Its funny to me to hear people say we should leave them the way nature intended, because they would not exist if man hadnt breed them to look that way. Nature didnt make boxers! All the breeds we have today are still around because people decided they wanted a dog that would look and have a specific purpose. If select breeding hadnt happened we would just have a bunch of wolves running around instead of purebred dogs that are supposed to look a certain way. To each his own, but I believe a boxer should look like a boxer not a small American Bulldog with the long tail. I wonder if doberman and rottweiler enthusiasts disagree on whether or not those breeds should still be docked.

Jenny, cropping is not for everyone. As you can see in the first photo of bad aftercare, it requires alot of work, possibly a years worth. As for the age of the crop, most vets will not recommend cropping for a pup after it is more than 4 months old, but it can be done. As long as the cartilage in the ear is still very floppy then it can still be trained to stand after cropping surgery. The surgery will cost around 200 but your not done there. You will have to buy taping supplies, neosporin, and alot of other stuff. And if you choose to let the vet tape the ears every time you will be charged about 50 for that. U may have to retape a couple times a month so that will get expensive! Getting your dogs ears to stand is 5 percent surgery, and 95 percent aftercare! You will be consumed by your dogs ears until they stand alone which could take months and on an older pup could definitely take a whole year. You would have to possibly keep him from the other dogs for a while or until he gets comfortable enough not to scratch it off. Also you will have to shave the ears during this time which can be a headache, theres is alot of work to put into those ears so be prepared, you might decide not to do it if you dont have the time to give your dog then he could end up with crazy looking ears! If hes just gonna be a pet consider leaving him floppy, but Im very proud to see those tails docked! I am very much for cropped ears but if the owner doesnt have the time or care to make sure they get the attention they need then I would much rather see floppy ears than a bad crop due to improper taping and posting.

I knew someone would say that! what I mean by saying the way nature intended them to be I mean the dog should not be altered from the way they look at birth, no cropping or docking just the way they look "naturally".
