Ears get cropped around 12 weeks normally. Probably too late now.

It's been a while but here's what I remember, I asked two vets of mine Crosby and Huffman. One said 170 the other said 200 and the best time is before 12 weeks and most good vets won't do it after that. Remember to make sure your vet does good crops or his ears could look crazy
...see pics below
Nice crop!

Oops was only supposed to be 2 pics lol. Yeah we didn't crop Roscos ears bc we had no funds at the time and I am glad we didn't bc I think we would have had a tough time keeping them taped.

As terrible as that second crop (and i feel bad for the poor pup) is to a degree the absolute terribleness of it and the homemade "collar" and sign is funny to a point. It's just so pathetic.

I heard in Europe, they no longer dock the ears. Will the american kennel club follow? I don't dock ears - the floppy ears are adorable and add character to the facial expressions, but I do not have show dogs either if that's your reason.

That puppy above did not have a Bad Crop, he had bad after care and improper posting/taping. His owners failed him, not the vet that cropped him.

The best time to crop is between 8-10 weeks. As mentioned most good vets wont do it after 12 weeks at the latest.

Cropping is for ears, docking is for tails. I seriously doubt the AKC/CKC will follow suit with many of the European countries.

I can just about promise you that won't happen in the US. I wouldn't want it to. I can only imagine the uproar and as soon as anti-cropping/docking edges into larger Canadian provinces nothing will happen. It will probably be squashed right there. I do like the look of a nice crop though. As long as it makes the head look nice or better it's honestly beautiful for me. It also helps to emphasize the head more in my opinion. Sometimes I pull up Duke's ears goofing around and it's a big difference in his look.

In the bright side, maybe I could finish Duke if they outlawed cropping.

I would never choose to crop. Since we rescue, we get what we get. We've had two with beautiful crops, Sam and Sadie. Max's previous owners didn't put in the effort required, and his poor ears are flipped inside out and lying on top of his head. It looks like he's wearing ear muffs. I don't post many pics of him because someone always says, "What did you do to that poor dog's ears?" Believe me, I would never do that to a dog.
