Default Sorry need 2 RANT!

met a lady yesterday who has 4 boxers. male, female and their daughter and son ( brother and sister)
she told me she is a registered breeder with "the best" lines.
Of course i started speaking with her...this is what i came to find out...

1.daddy boxer is on "pills" for mental issues
2.daughter has severe allergies and needs special medication
3.NONE have ever been walked because she has a big back yard and they are "uncontrollable".
4. daughter has been bread with father and brother. Mother has been bread with son.

i asked her what type of health testing she had done..she replies "oh everything".

I asked her what titles her dogs have earned and she replied...i Havant done any showing but i really want too.

I was sooo angry steam was coming from my ears..

I told her to have a nice day and i walked away... why or why didn't i have the balls to say anything?... I really wanted to call her a stupid twit... now i keep daydreaming about running into her again and what i am going to say...
should i say anything???

wow.. talk about interbreeding issues,, totally understand your frustration.... I had no clue what was involved in health testing for boxers until I came here.. I have no clue what I would do, But I have been known to say stuff when confronted by wrong....

Just wow...and all the poor owners who own one of her puppies. I'm honestly kind of speechless.

You think people would have the common sense and decency to not breed a mental dog or a father to daughter or mom to son!

Sadly this is more common than most know.

The AKC does a very good job of tracking these people down and doing what they can to stop them from breeding.

Unfortunately they can't catch every one of them.

Wow. The poor pups and people who have bought those pups are in for some major issues. Breeding that close is extremely dangerous. Just makes me angry.

I would have asked if she married her cousin or would consider "mating" with a relative... I probably wouldn't have been very nice to her. A few fancy four letter words would have slipped out too!

I saw a show on tv about this. It was terribly. The dogs have all kinds of health problems. I'm guessing these ones don't see the vet or I would hope the vet would say something!

I just have to respond to your post. You have every right to be furious. These people who think there dogs are fantastic specimens and then they start breeding them with no regard to what it takes to improve the breed.....well, they just send me totally over the edge! We thought when we got our boxer, Morgan, that we were buying from someone who was reputable. So we bought a puppy and my son and his wife bought the littermate (sister) to our Morgan. We got lucky. Morgan has allergies, but they can be controlled with diet. Our kids, not so lucky. Their little flashy brindle girl was so bad with allergies. She was allergic to everything and had to be on medication as well as special food. Then last year she had a freaky thing with her intestines (6 inches of them just died!). The vet could find nothing wrong. She had emergency surgery and remarkably she survived. A month ago she became ill again. This time it was her lungs. The kids took her to the University of Illinois. She had to have a portion of her lungs removed due to spontaneous bullae (blisters inside the lungs that burst). The surgeons said they had never seen so many - the most they had ever seen were 2 and poor little Blitz had 5! The vet said she was probably born with them. She was in ICU for a week. Was almost ready to come home and took a turn for the worse. The kids had to have her put to sleep. She was the tiniest Boxer I'd ever seen. Weighed just at 40 lbs. They spent over $20,000 trying to mend a poorly bred Boxer. These stupid people don't have a clue how much heartache they cause. Sorry such a long post. I'm off my soap box now.

So very sad I personally would probably say something... But just expect whatever you say to land on deaf ears. People like this don't want to hear the thruth.
