Tyson is 65 lbs right now. He's never had anything on his back so I dk what he would think - maybe just get him used to the empty backpack at first. I really think this is a good idea tho!!

I wish I could answer that but I really don't know what an exceptable weight for an 8 month old pup is to carry. Perhaps you could call your vet and ask what the max safe weight would be for a dog that age to carry in a pack would be?

The things I'm finding say no more than 10% body weight of the dog all the way up to 25% of the body weight...

Heres a site that some ppl are saying has excellent dog packs Leerburg | Two-Piece Backpack Harness

Aspen wears a pack all the time when we go hiking (she's wearing a pack in almost every picture in our album!). The last time we went on a big 3 day hike she carried about 15 lbs of her own gear, when we hiked up a mountain on Canada Day to watch the fireworks she carred 10 cans of beer! She's a tank!

Aspen has never had any issues wearing anything, from clothes to hats to harnesses, she really couldn't care less so it didn't take any effort at all to get her used to the pack. It would be great if you got a pack that was removable from the harness so Kippah could get used to just the harness first, then the empty pack, then you can buy a bunch of juice boxes and just have her carry one juice box in either side of her pack and build up the number of juice boxes as she gets comfortable. She'll soon learn that backpack = walk and she'll get excited when you put it on her.
