No advice on the cone thing. None of my dogs ever had to wear one. Did the vet already say she'll need one?
What size Kong do you have? I have the middle sized ones and they keep Logan and Abby satisfied for quite a long time.

Yes vet required us to get our own cones from pet shop. And i use regular pb. I still using the small puppy version, but if i were to get a bigger it would only last 5min haha. I have the big kong tire to stiff treats and pb, it holds a lot of pb, and only lasted 10mins with stella, and it was a lot messier then the typical beehive kong.

I remember when we had Maggie spayed.
Vet said no running, jumping or stairs for 2 weeks. Outside to pee /potty on leash only (even though yard is fenced) We had her wear the cone at night when we were sleeping and while we weren't home, but took it off when we were there to supervise. You just don't want her kicking / biting at her stitches. |

Stella will be fine
Sorry to ask... I don't think I've ever read anything bad about spaying... why wouldn't you spay your dog unless you are breeding.. responsibly hopefully.. ? My dogs have always been spayed. My mum got an 8yr old pug that wasn't spayed and she got her period and was at higher risk for breast cancer. Not to mention the obvious.. unplanned pregnancies.. dogs going nuts when you're dog is in heat.. dog fights.. All I know of are the benefits of spaying/neuturing, I didn't know there were negatives. Having done a lot of rescue work, I'm 110% for spaying your pets. Is the concern just the fact that it is a major surgery? |

Concern is it supposely causes increased risks for many problems dogs are prone to. I'm sceptical to it, I've only heard of it from a couple members here, but it seems they got all their info from the same source... and I've got tons of "bs" acknowledgements from several vets, and even a friend who is in school for it. I showed them all the original source of the info, and got all the same answers.
Stella is here resting in the kennel of my in laws, stellas brother duke got snipped too, hes already thrown up a few times and is moaping and whining. Stella is very quiet and just sitting and staring with a creepy sad look :-(. Stella came out of the other room at the vets and peed on their floor. And was actually pretty normal kinda jumpy excited and didn't seem to care. She has a cone on, but it doesn't bother her, and doesn't seem to want to bother her sti tches. Will keep posted on her thougj! Last edited by Gypsiemouse; 12-02-2012 at 02:51 PM. |
