Two things:

remember that your dogs are attached and they will need to build up their stamina as much as you do
do not attach a leash to your handlebars. one good lunge will result you going face first into the ground.

Nah, you NEED a helmet. I hate them too. I am pratically tempted to bring it in to spin class.
