So the other night, my husband and I were playing and tapping each other and I noticed Belah was watching us very closley. Of course we were laughing at each other at the time and I think she knew we were just playing around, my husband hit my leg and I said "ouch" waiting to see how she would react. She got a little ancy and didn't know exactly how to react, so I told him to hit my leg again...and again I said "OUCH" a little louder and I put my head down like as if I were crying. She jumped up and out of her bed so fast I missed it when I blinked! She jumped on my husband and put her mouth on his arm as if to say "OK thats enough". So then he decides to do it again before she sat down. She jumped on him and held his arm in her mouth and started growling. He thought she was playing...I guess he was wrong. Her hair started standing up and she stood right in front of me like she was protecting me, growling at my husband and not moving a muscle until he left the room. Once he left, she turned around and kissed my leg. I was SHOCKED! She is only 7 months, and she NEVER has reacted that way before. I know she "favors" me...but she is "my" baby. Jaxon has never done that...he has protected me from other dogs, but never Jon (my husband). Belah really didn't like the fact that he was hitting me. So a couple of days later, I said I wonder how she would react if the tables were reversed and I was hitting Jon. So I decided to hit him and he did the whole "OUCH" thing and even pretended to cry and Belah couldn't care less....she looked at him like "get over it".
LOL! I always said if we ever had a break in or someone try to hurt me I would be in a pickle b/c all my dogs would do is lick them to death. The ONLY thing that I had going was the size of them (and Jaxon looks mean). But if they would brave it and keep going, they could def. get through. I can honestly say I will sleep better knowing she is there! Im very proud of my lil girl! Just thought I would share my story...LOL! Thanks for reading. |

LOL well I do have to say, when I lay down and she can get to my hair she LOVES to dig in it. I dont know what she is looking for...but shes always at it. Belah is VERY goofy too, I think thats what shocked me when she got serious with Jon. (altough I was giving her high five for doing it) HAHA!

My boxer Murphy is only 3 1/2 months and he loves my girlfriends hair. Whenever he gets the chance he's trying to eat it. Beware of the dog eating hair while it looks pretty funny he has poop stuck hanging from his butt by her hair it is pretty gross having to pull the poop off. Haha

That is so funny. My girls are the same way, protect mom. I can pretend hit my husband, he can yell out or even my boys for that matter & they just watch. But when the tables are turned, they come running to protect me. Pheona was younger when my husband deployed & she was about 8 months when he came home. Well if he'd go to hug me, she'd step between us. If he went to sit beside me, she'd jump up & shove her head between us. She's not as bad anymore but she still has her moments when she'll wiggle between us as if to tell him...she belongs to me..not you.

When my son and husband wrestle, of course the dogs all get worked up but ever since Pumpkin was little, when they wrestled in front of her, she would literally attack my son's crotch. It was funny while he was younger and smaller but as he started outgrowing my husband it became not so funny one day.
I used to ask them not to wrestle in front of the dogs because it got them riled up and they would ignore me. Well, the very last time they wrestled in front of the dogs, Pumpkin came away with a mouthful, tore a hole in my son's shorts and actually made him bleed a bit down there. Of course I couldn't miss the "I told you so" comment as he crumpled to the ground. I reckon it scared him enough because they haven't wrestled in front of the dogs ever again. |

OMG that is hilarous! I can't stop laughing. (sorry for your son) but that is too funny.
Jaxon is a little more laid back and does't care. Its not like we are really fighting but she just gets so worked up. I hate to see when she gets big what she might do. She already puts her teeth on him. |

I got Callie to be my big tough guard dog. When I play wrestle with family, she joins right in and helps them out. -_-
The family chihuahua, though, he'll defend me to the death. Just not so intimidating to a robber.
