Wink White Boy- Eyesight So,So- Hearing Perfect

When we lost power for 12 days because of "Sandy" we discovered that Mongo doesn't see so well in the dark.

Having no lights he had a hard time negotiating the stairs in our house at night.
Poor little guy tried to follow hubby downstairs and stumbled a bit.

Hubby heard the thumpety thump and went to look.

Mongo was frozen on the stairs and shaking.

Hubby had to lead him down with a flashlight. And then give hugs

Maybe that's why he stands in the yard at night and howls -

Maggie on the other hand flies up and down and all around in the pitch black without missing a step.

Anyway... so we think his eyesight is a bit questionable, but his hearing on the other hand is impeccable

They were both out back in the yard (the back door is off the kitchen)
And perhaps this is where I should state that one of Mongo's favorite things is ice cubes he gets so excited for them.

So while they were outside, I opened the freezer .... and stuck my hand in.....and grabbed......some ICE

Well, little man Mongo slammed his entire body up against the door thinking he was gonna lose out on getting a cube. And the look on his face was PRICELESS!

So if he heard my hand in the freezer in the kitchen grabbing ice while he was outside, ain't nothing wrong with that white boys hearing

Awww... that's kind of sad that he gets scared on the stairs.

Funny that he heard the ice though! Ours are like that when they hear cheese wrappers. I hope you gave him an ice cube!

He only got scared on the stairs cause it was dark and he couldn't see where he was going.
He's okay when there's light.
And of course he got a cube he always gets one.

That stinks that his eye sight isn't great in the dark. I couldn't help but laugh when I read about the ice. Pheona loves ice & will run when she hears you in the freezer getting some. It's quite funny!!

Mongo and I might be distant relatives LOL! My eyesight's getting worse come nightfall. But I think it's age related. Kisses to Mongo (and Maggie) from me and Leila.

I suspect Sally's sight isn't so crash hot, when she drops a treat she has to sniff to find it even if it is a black treat on light grey concrete. I dropped a chunk of ham rind 1x2cm on the ground and she searched and searched for it before she finally sniffed it out.
She isn't good at fetch, she can never find the ball unless it falls right near her (I have terrible aim), and if she is at a long distance away and I run she doesn't follow but if I call she does, If I am near or not too far she will chase me when I run without calling out to her.

I will just have to teach her to use her nose better!

I was very fortunate, my white baby has very keen hearing and impeccable eyesight! She can hear a bread sack from a mile away! . She plays fetch like a pro! She loves her ball, she even tries to say ball, if you can imagine! Boxers are amazing beautiful babies!
