Earlier today, I got a text from my friend Rachel, who is a veterinarian I work with. She also works a a couple other hospitals in the area, mainly to pay her bills and feed her crew. Last week, we did surgery on her big boxer buddy Logan, to remove his spleen (cancer scare). Luckily the biopsy came back negative for cancer, so to all my BF friends who said prayers and sent well wishes, THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! He is recovering very well.
Anyway, Rachel sent me a picture, captioned "You know you want him!"
A little baby fawn boxer, with a big old white face. OMG.
I forwarded the picture to my husband....who came home from work and asked me if I had told Rachel we would take him.
Holy crap, y'all....I'M GETTING A BOXER!!!!!!
This makes dog number 4....in a 2 bedroom house, on 1/3 acre. I must be nuts. But in a good way!
I'll be talking to her later tonight, when she gets off work, and finalize some arrangements. Now, if only I could remember what I did with my other crate.......
OMG,, talk about shock... He is the cutest thing... and I am a wee bit teary eyed I have to be honest.. congrats Melissa what a wonderful Christmas present
I haven't picked a name out yet...I haven't even met him, lol!!
Rachel is going to call me when she gets off work tonight, to finalize arrangements. I hope to meet him maybe tomorrow or Thursday.
We (Rob and I) generally pick a name after we spend a little time with a pup, so we can figure out what suits. Sometimes we get it wrong....Mooshie was originally Max, but he's not a Max, he's a Moosh.
This really came as an out of the blue surprise. Looks like I'm really the crazy dog lady in Maryland! :crazyeye:
I'm sure I'll have about 2 million pictures up in a couple days.
Well, I just got off the phone with Rachel and she supplied me with a few more details on the little man.
He's about 6 months old, and was found by someone in the alley behind the inner city vet clinic she works at. He's pretty slim and lanky right now, not too blocky yet. He's also pretty submissive; her big boxer put him in his place pretty quickly. He's semi-housetrained...only a couple pee accidents and no code browns (yet).
She's going to bring him by the clinic tomorrow after her baby Huxley's rehab appointment, so I can take him home with me, and see how it goes.
Talk about a vote of confidence...she told me I was her first choice for a home.
Decided to name him Joey, after Mean Joe Green, because he put a few really good tackles on his big brother Mooshie while they were zooming around the yard. It seems to fit.
Now on to the important part...PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We named him after Mean Joe Green, because he tackles Mooshie to the ground (who outweighs him by a lot!!)
He's doing really well and seems to be fitting in with everybody. He and Mooshie are best buddies.
He's had a couple accidents in the house, but really not many...and all code yellow, no code browns. :clap2:
Christmas really came after all this year...I was really not feeling like celebrating this year. It's amazing how much you can miss goofy little things, like the boxer snorffle, the little nubby wagging, and the snuggling under the blankets.
