The old guy's still got game

Despite the fact that Barkley is on the hospice track, something got him riled last night. He's never been particularly fond of Tucker, but he's always been tolerant and Tucker just gives Barkley a wide berth. (In the last few months, Barkley has even let Tucker clean his ears, so it's not all bad.)

We let the dogs out last night. We were sitting in the living room when I heard this very terse bark and Tucker came flying into the house with Barkley hot on his heels. (I didn't even know Barkley could still move that fast!) Barkley ran Tucker right into a corner and penned him in. Tucker did everything right, turning his back and averting his gaze, but Barkley wasn't backing down. When Tucker tried to squeeze around Barkley, Barks snarled at him and all his hackles were raised. At that point, I jumped in because it was apparent whatever happened was not a passing thing. I knew Tucker would be fine, but I didn't want Barkley to make a move and have all the others jump in to where he'd get hurt.

Hannah put Tucker in his kennel. When I let Barkley go, he went straight to Tucker's kennel and stared him down for a few minutes. Poor Tucker was really shaken up. I'm still not sure what happened. My guess is the young ones were horsing around and Tucker knocked into Barkley. Things have been fine this morning, but Tucker is steering clear just in case. He may be old and rickety, but Barkley doesn't take crap from some young whippersnapper!! LOL
