A lovely gesture from Marki

She wrote this for me a while back as a rescue volunteer. I still read it and I love it. It still brings tears to my eyes when I read it. I thought I would share it again. It was written for me when Cody sweet boy passed away a few short weeks after we took him in.

You carry no guns or sword,
Your heart is your only weapon,
To defend those who became a chore,
You are hope for those who have none,
You are home for those in need,
You are life when time is running out,
And think nothing of the deed.
When the world says your unwanted,
You show them someone cares,
When abuse has left them broken,
You face what most can’t bare,
You are a soldier in a war my friend,
An angel without wings,
Your sacrifices go unspoken,
For it is blessings that you sing,
You change the world one by one,
You suffer with every loss,
You will fight until the war is won,
No matter what the cost.

Thank you for posting it. I lost everything when my laptop died several month's ago. I should probably learn from that and print it. It was heartfelt and it means a lot to me that you found it comforting.
