I'm not sure if this thread belongs here or not but this was brought to my attention last night by a friend still living up in VA where we used to live (in fact the friend was our neighbor.) They have recently updated the ban on dogs that can be in that housing area. I just find it extremely sad that these dogs are now going to be forced from their owners homes unless the owners can find another place to live. Just another reason I can't wait till we have our forever home & I don't have to fear Boxers making that list. Anyways here is the list:

Canine Breeds with Dominate Traits toward Aggression
 Akita
 American Pit-bull Terrier
 American Staffordshire Terrier
 Shar Pei
 Cane Corso
 Chow Chow
 Dalmatian
 Doberman Pinscher
 German Pinscher
 German Shepherd
 Great Dane
 Rottweiler
 Staffordshire Bull Terrier
 Shiba Inu
 Perro de Presa Canario
 Wolf Hybrids
Canine Breeds that Exceed 100 Pounds:
 Dogue de Bordeaux
 Great Dane
 Great Pyrenees
 Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
 Irish Wolf Hound
 Mastiff breeds
 Newfoundland
 Saint Bernard
 Perro de Presa Canario
Other Prohibited Breeds:
 All “mixes” that contain any of the above breeds
 Any other canine breed with dominate traits toward aggression or that will be more than 100
pounds when full grown

Our old neighbors have a Weimaraner/GSD mix & because of the "Mixes" rule they are being made to get rid of a dog that they've had since he was a pup before they even updated this list. He looks way more weimaraner than GSD & most people think he's a lab. When they took him to the vet for the first time they marked him as a GSD mix so that is why they are having to get rid of him. Luckily for them her parents said they'd take him. Maggie was a Boxer/GSD mix & luckily her papers all said she was a Boxer mix so we wouldn't of had a problem but you best bet that I'd of said bye to that house before saying bye to my fur baby. Sorry, just wanted to get this said.

that is nuts !! if they have that many breeds that have " aggression" and i doubt they do why dont they just ban all dogs from jump I personally have met more bad tempered terriers and little foo foo dogs that bad tempered large ones

I totally agree. I had a yorkie/fox terrier mix who bit someone once. Thank God it wasn't serious. That ban is totally ridiculous.

I don't think I've EVER met a Great Dane with dominant or aggressive traits. That list is ridiculous!! And to ban mixes?!?

That is beyond sad!! Wow.. how is it they are allowed to do this!! Honestly makes me sick! I have trained almost every breed on that list!! Some of them are the most amazing breeds you could own (of course boxer being number #1 ) I feel for you and your community! I would want to fight that.

Who imposed this ban? A gov municipality or homeowners assoc or something. As for ur friend maybe they can do DNA to see what mix it actually is. But with so many on the list not sure how helpful it wd be

It is military housing in VA. My friend is just beside herself. Her 2 dogs are her kids as she can't have children. I feel so bad for them. Glad we have moved from there.
