Its 2am and I feel helpless.. Nico got neutered yesterday.. And was fine when we brought him home.. slept all evening.. We put him in the crate for bed and he has been crying on and off all night. We checked on him a few times and he was just laying down crying. He started to cry even more so we checked on him again and he was going buck wild in his crate when he saw us.. I took him out and he was trying to get to his incision.. Hubby walked him and I figured i would sleep on the couch with him next to me so he was more calmed. Well he hasn't stopped trying to get to his incision and wont stop running in circles. I think he is just really uncomfortable and in pain. We just put him in crate again cause I didn't want him to pop stitches by running in circles trying to get to his incision..
I don't know what else to do for him.. They gave me pain meds but told me not to give them to him till tomorrow.. Is there anything else I can do. He is now crying again in his crate.. Julia Nico 7 months |

Thanks! After about 40 min he settles down. But woke in a panic again at 5am. So we took him out I walked him and feed him. Let his belly settle for about 20 min and gave him his meds. He has been up since not able to really relax but at least not freaking out like he was over night.
He does have a cone so he can't get to the incision but he sure is trying! And this cone is HUGE!! I don't see any outside stitches but he really hasn't given me the chance to look. Ok must have spoke to soon cause he is going in circles again while I'm typing this. Hopefully the meds help. I'm exhausted! Last night was a long night.. I'm glad we did this on a Friday so we can be home with him. I worry come Monday when he has to be in his crate. Julia Nico |

About a half hour after Wyatt got his pain meds it knocked him on his ass for about two hours( get a nap in then)! Be careful for a suture reaction. They didn't tell me this at the vet and about a week later I noticed a lump near one of his incisions ( where they had to get the undescended testicle) I was freaking out, called the vet and that's what she told me it was. Ended up calling my mom who's a nurse and she said yes that's possible! It went away after about a week. And yes, the first night is the hardest!!!!

Awe. Poor guy. The same thing happened with my little guy the poodle/terrier mix. He would not stop turning in circles, plopping down, turning in circles, etc so the vet finally gave him Xanax to calm him down and Tramadol to help with the pain. It worked fairly well.
I hope he feels better soon!! Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

Awww...poor Nico. I hope he's doing better this morning. I would be contacting your vets office. He needs to relax so he can start healing. Please keep us posted on how he's doing.

Rex hated his cone when he was neutered so we kept it off when home to watch him... Night time and when we went to work he had it on in his kennel otherwise he hated it... Could be cone freaking him out cause he cant see all his peripherals..

So he has still been bugging out. I took the cone off and he has been fine. I have his leash on him and attached to me so I can watch him. He is licking himself but not at the incision site. Hope he will be ok once he goes in his crate with it.
