Moxie came to me on iams. I quickly switched her to blue buffalo. The normal one with grain. She had a pretty bad doggy smell and I needed to bathe her every two weeks or so. She had loose stool on bb so we switched to grain free taste of the wild. Now she hardly has any doggy smell and a nice pleasent sweet smell.
I recommend grain free.

Sally gets a bath every week or two, I am using a gentle puppy shampoo, I usually am not washing her for the smell, but rather the hair loss, a good wash and I can touch/cuddle/wrestle her without being covered in hair. I have a skin allergy where anything that irritates my skin gives me big welts (they go in about 20 minutes but they hurt and itch like hell!) and little pieces of hair dog or from my husband's hair cuts are the worst!
We had Sally on a grain free kibble for 3 months and her smell was a lot less, but because it upset her stomach I have taken her back to a grain kibble, I can deal with the smell of her more than the mushy poops... I will try a different brand of grain free kibble in a few months time once her tummy has a chance to settle. |
