Default They say Boxers are smart...

Nico has always been a water hog. If he doesn't have water in his bowl he tries finding it anywhere and everywhere! He figured he could do this

The fridge is old so u can't block the water from coming out. And we couldn't disconnect the water or we don't get ice. So we came up with sticking a Lego piece behind the spout so it wouldn't move. He has tried to get water to no avail. Well today he finally figured out how to get the Lego piece out so he can get water.. Silly dog is gonna drive me crazy.. Lol now to try and figure out another way to stop the water..

LOL! That's awesome! Boxers are smart!

Maybe you can tape the Lego in place?

Scary smart, they are.
So much for needing a water bowl. LOL
Reminds of catching a teenager standing with fridge door open drinking from a milk carton or juice bottle.

Now would be great time to teach him OFF while you are figuring out how to stop the reward.

They are to smart for their own good!

That is funny. I agree with Kari, I would teach him "OFF" when you catch him up there. I hope you can find something to block the water.

We have been doing OFF for months! He is pretty good at it with the occasional ignore. We had the Lego piece in place for a few months now.. So I think since he has finally figured out how to get it out he thinks its a game again.. I get so nervous because the water comes out so fast he ends up choking a bit!!

Nico is very stubborn and a huge Alpha! Still working on a solid Off had been challenging..

Nico is one smart boy! Why drink water from a bowl when you can get it fresh and cold from the fridge? I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but Jack's preferred source of water is the tap in our bathtub. He has a bowl in the kitchen, but every morning and every night before bed he stands beside the bathtub until we turn the water on for him. He has a nice long drink from the tub tap, and rarely ever drinks from his bowl during the day. I didn't think too much of it, until my mom found him licking her tub tap over christmas, despite a the fact that he had a huge bowl of water in her kitchen. I guess we've ruined him, he's officially a running water snob.

OMG that is priceless! Do you guys use the water? If not then just disconnect the waterhose to the fridge.
